Kabam, Warner Bros. partner for The Lord of the Rings, Mad Max games
Kabam and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) have announced a new partnership that will see the pair co-publishing two mobile games based on The Lord of the Rings and Mad Max. This is an extension of the companies' existing relationship, which previously saw them co-publish The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth on mobile. That game went on to gross more than $100 million in its first year on the market.
"WBIE has been an amazing partner and we look forward to building on our previous success with these strong franchises," said Kabam COO, Kent Wakeford. "Marquee brands like The Lord of the Rings and Mad Max are perfect for the deeply immersive and fun mobile games Kabam creates."
"Kabam's demonstrated expertise is very impressive, and extending our partnership with their team will help both companies achieve continued success," added WBIE Executive Vice President of Publishing Operations, David Haddad. "Building two new mobile games based on well-known brands is a strategic part of our growth as the appetite for digital content continues to grow."
While additional details about the upcoming games are still under wraps, it can be assumed both games will be free-to-play, as Kabam's general focus is on freemium experiences. Check back soon for more.
