Assassin's Creed Pirates Cheats And Tips

Last year, Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag on consoles and PC, but also accommodated mobile fans with its own pirate-oriented adventure, Assassin's Creed: Pirates. While obviously not as heftily designed as the console release, Pirates offers its fair share of adventures, as you can engage in high-seas battles while seeking out treasure from the depths of the ocean.

Seeing as how the game recently shifted to a free-to-play model on the App Store (it's still $4.99 on Android, sadly), we're revisiting this game and providing you with some helpful tips. Heed them well if you don't want to end up in Davy Jones' locker.
How do I play Assassin's Creed Pirates?
Unlike Black Flag, the majority of Assassin's Creed Pirates revolves around sailing on the high seas, as you'll manage both your crew and ship while engaging in a number of battles with enemies. For the most part, you'll master both evading and shooting at said enemies, in order to do damage while avoiding the possibility of tearing your ship to pieces.
Along the way, you'll be able to use new perks and tools for your ship to increase both its general and weapons performance, as well as keep your crew in line so it runs smoothly. These are small things to manage, but it helps to have everything in tip-top shape before you enter your next fire fight.
What's the best way to shoot enemy ships in Assassin's Creed Pirates?
When it comes to targeting enemies, aiming at them straight-on isn't the best option. That's because when you get around to firing, they'll already be in motion, and most of your cannonballs will go sailing right past them.
Instead, try shooting a little bit ahead of them. Judge where they're going on their current path, line them up and fire away. Most of your shots will hit as a result, and you can go ahead and plan your next attack while your crew is reloading. Try it out and you'll see exactly what we mean.

What's the best way to evade incoming fire in Assassin's Creed Pirates?
Dodging is as easy as pressing a button in this game, and you'll want to press it in a timely manner when the on-screen indicator tells you. You'll see where an enemy is targeting you, and have just about a split second to get out of the way. Practice makes perfect here, so get used to preparing to move in a hurry, while lining up your sights on your next shot. It's essential for survival.
How do perks work in Assassin's Creed Pirates?
You'll earn one-time use perks over the course of the game, mainly by completing certain missions. These perks can be quite useful, but you'll want to make sure you use them at the proper time. For instance, if you have a perk that increases general attack power, you'll want to wait to use it for the "killing shot" on smaller ships, or as a crucial blow to larger vessels. There's also one that can give you a speed boost, but this is best saved for either when you're trying to escape pursuit, or taking part in a race.
See what your perk can do for you, but don't be so hasty when it comes to burning it off. You might need it at just the right time!
Do I need to complete secondary missions in Assassin's Creed Pirates?
You don't really need to complete them, but you'll miss a grand opportunity if you skip them. When you come across secondary objectives, you may find them to be a real grind. However, by going ahead and completing them, you gain access to various resources that can help you improve your ship and crew. These are going to come in handy over the later missions in the game, so go ahead and take advantage. They won't cost you anything, and sometimes you can get practice with battling, which will help you out in the long run.
Do I need to pay for anything in Assassin's Creed Pirates?
The game is free-to-play, so it costs nothing to download (on the iOS App Store, anyway). However, if you want upgrades right away, without toiling through a bunch of missions, you can buy secondary coin packs ranging anywhere from $1.99 to $99.99. Engage in the first few missions first, then decide if you really need them that quickly. Chances are you'll adapt to the battle system right away, and eventually earn the upgrades you need to keep on sailing.
