Thomas Was Alone Cheats And Tips

After becoming an indie favorite last year for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, Bossa Studios' Thomas Was Alone has finally made its way to the App Store. This strategic platforming game has you moving puzzle blocks to the exit, though the route from point A to point B isn't always clear. Sometimes you'll need to stack blocks together and overcome obstacles in order to get where you need to go.
Don't be a blockhead about it. We have a few tips that will help you get started.

How do I play Thomas Was Alone?

You have the ability to go left, right or jump. As you get started in the game, you'll easily figure things out. In addition, the in-game narrator, as smarmy as he can be sometimes, will occasionally lend a hand, providing subtle tips in the midst of his storytelling.
You'll come to terms with how Thomas' movement works, as well as being able to make distant jumps and stack characters on top of one another. We'll cover that in the next paragraph.

How does stacking work in Thomas Was Alone?

There are some instances where you'll need to have blocks come together in order to get through the exit in one piece. You'll gradually be introduced to these new pieces as the game goes along, as well as what purpose they serve.
Basically, with stacking, you may need to rearrange some blocks so they're on a higher platform (usually, they're stable enough to make the jump), and then have Thomas slide in so they snugly fit on top. Thomas can then carry them along and eventually reach the exit, although the weight could have a slight effect on how he jumps. Be sure to keep that in mind.
In addition, Thomas can also use different characters to sometimes reach a higher platform, or assist them in doing so. Stacking can work any which way with these blocks, so be creative, and eventually the solution will present itself.

What if I die in Thomas Was Alone?

No worries, you can simply restart. Sometimes the best way to get around a level is to go through it a few times and see where the hazards are. Practice makes perfect, and you won't face a penalty.

How do I find special trophies in Thomas Was Alone?

The developers scattered trophies throughout the game. Sometimes they appear out of reach, but when you get a chance, take a good look around a level. Usually, you'll find a side route that'll take you right to it. Other times, you'll need to use your imagination.
The point is to keep trying. If you don't make it to the trophy the first time around, take a look at your surroundings and see if there's another route. There are times when the solution will be right in front of you, so don't overlook the obvious.

What's with the narrator in Thomas Was Alone?

The narration is provided by actor Danny Wallace, who also works in filmmaking and writing. He provides a slightly humorous tone to the game, and although there are times he can be frank, he does make it easier to move along to new levels, just to see what he says next. It's a pretty cool feature to have in the game.

Do I need to pay for anything in Thomas Was Alone?

No, you simply need to pay for the game and then work your way through it. It may seem a bit costly at $8.99 - especially compared to all the $0.99 games - but platformer and strategy fans will appreciate it.
