Cloud-based tool-set provider Appy Pie has announced the public availability of "Game Builder," its DIY mobile game building platform that allows anyone with an interest to create a mobile game for free, with no prior coding experience necessary. Since the platform's soft launch in January 2014, over 500 games have been created using Game Builder.
For now, the Game Builder platform offers six game templates: flappy bird, fly and shoot, casino, tic-tac-toe, basketball and action. This selection will expand in the coming months. When users set out to make an app, they can create the game in three steps: choosing the genre, giving the game a name, and customizing it with characters and artwork.
Users can add their own personal photos and graphics to games, and can publish their finished titles to iOS or Android. If approved through each store's approval system, the apps are then available to download by the masses. Users can also publish their games in Appy Pie's Game Arcade for instant testing.
In addition, Game Builder supports app monetization, via integration with iAds and AdMob, but this (and additional functionality) is not available without purchasing one of the company's subscription packages. The platform will expand to support in-app purchases at a later date.
"Appy Pie's driving mission is to make the entire app creation process effortless and enjoyable, where anyone can create a mobile app in 3 easy steps," said Abhinav Girdhar, Founder of Appy Pie. "The public launch of Game Builder is an extension of that goal and we're looking forward to seeing the plethora of mobile games generated on our Game Builder platform, the world's first cloud-based mobile game creator with HTML5 technology."
