Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft comes to iPad
After a successful release on Windows and Mac, Blizzard has launched its incredibly popular, free-to-play card battle game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft on iPad. The multiplayer game sees players choosing one of nine hero characters, customizing their deck(s) with both attack and defense cards, and taking them into battle with the single goal of defeating the enemy hero.
When friends aren't available, gamers can also practice against computer opponents, unlocking more of the game's heroes as they're victorious. Each hero has a different ability, including options for healing oneself or damaging the enemy hero, regardless of the cards currently out on the battlefield.
Battles are turn-based, with players having a limited number of points to spend on actions on each turn. Cards require these points to play from the deck, with spells, weapons and other minions all being available in various combinations.
Players who've already played Hearthstone on PC or Mac can login with their Hearthstone accounts, carrying over any cards they've collected and progress they've made. What's more, all gamers are eligible to receive a free card pack for trying the game. For new players, this involves completing the game's tutorial missions, but for veterans, gamers need to enter the Play, Arena or Practice modes of the game to receive the card pack.
Hearthstone offers cross-platform play, and is accessible wherever gamers have an internet connection. The game supports iPad 2+, iPad Air and iPad Mini devices, and is set for release on Windows 8 tablets, iPhone and Android later this year.
