Activision announces Tony Hawk's Shred Session for iOS, Android
Activision has announced the development of a new title in the popular 'Tony Hawk' skateboarding franchise. Tony Hawk's Shred Session is being developed specifically for smartphone and tablet devices on iOS and Android, and will see gamers swiping the screen to perform trick combos on their skateboards. The game's controls are described as "simple" and "intuitive," requiring a single finger to perform tricks.
Tony Hawk's Shred Session will take players to multiple real world locations, including the Santa Monica boardwalk and London. Players will have a choice of two modes of play. The Survival mode challenges gamers to pull off continuous combos and tricks to survive as long as they can, while the Shred Sessions mode allows users to complete "classic" Tony Hawk game objectives.
Players will be able to level up over time, unlocking more advanced tricks for future use. They'll be able to play as one of six popular skateboarding professionals, including Tony Hawk, and can upgrade each character with branded skate apparel and decks which may help boost players' scores.
"I'm stoked that Activision shares my vision for an original skateboarding game on mobile," said Tony Hawk. "It's exciting to evolve with new technologies, and Shred Session is a whole new direction."
Tony Hawk's Shred Session is planned for release on iOS and Android this summer.
