Space Expedition: Classic Adventure Review
Retro inspired games are a dime a dozen these days and it
can be hard to discern which are worthy of play and which are just
another clone of a clone. Space Expedition: Classic Adventure is one of
the former, and is an exciting sci-fi romp of quality that is becoming
increasingly rare on mobile.
The Good
The
controls of this 2D side-scroller are handled via a on-screen gamepad,
allowing tight jumps and preventing the view from being obscured. The
backdrops are varied and lovingly created, resulting in each location
seeming unique. This game is a ton of fun and made me actually feel like
I was exploring as opposed to just trying to find a means to an end.
The Bad
The
game is unfortunately very short and ends just when you really feel
like you're getting into the swing of things. The lack of content made
the game seem unsatisfying even if the existing content was fun. The
price ($2.99) also seems a bit steep for the amount of content, even if
the game is of excellent quality.
The Verdict
Space
Expedition: Classic Adventure seems like the prelude to what would be an
excellent game. Although the game ends with a "To be continued....", I
felt that maybe Mobirate Studio would have better served gamers by
holding off on releasing this game until they had more content ready as
it feels more like a demo than a full game. Although what game there is,
is constructed wonderfully and plays very well, points were deducted on
virtue of length alone.
