In a reversal of traditional roles, Haunt the House: Terrortown has
ghosts exorcising humans. Ghosts like quiet and you'll have to spook
crowds of the living out of different locations to finally get a chance
to rest in peace. However, these humans are thick-skulled so there will
be quite a bit of trial-and-error to get them scarred enough to vacate
the premises.
The Good
The
graphics are adorable, and the animations are fluid, making spooking
the cute citizens of the world a delight. There are plenty of different
objects to possess and make use of in your quest to rid the town of
humans, and each location has its own theme and uniquely rendered. The
addition of being able to reap the souls of some people under unique
conditions adds replay value.
The Bad
The game is quite
short which is a let-down because it really is quite fun. The objects,
except for a few unique ones each level, don't offer a ton of variety as
far as how you can use them to spook people. The majority just allow
you to rattle or move around, it would have been nice to see a bit more
creativity, especially since the game's base concept is so interesting.
The Verdict
Even
though the game is short, at $.99 the purchase is definitely worth it.
The premise is original and executed quite well. However, don't go into
this expecting a ton of content, because the game is very short, and
although it does have a bit of replayability, players can expect to
drain it of content in 5 or 6 hours.
