Guide a ball down a pipe, beat your competitors. That's the simple
concept of Proun+. The idea sounds silly written down, but in practice
Proun+ is one of the best racers on iOS. Forward momentum is mostly
automatic, the real difficulty comes with dodging obstacles. The
gameplay is speedy, and with the great tilt controls, offers a unique
and very fun experience.
The Good
The
tilt controls actually work better than the touch ones, unlike most iOS
games. Being able to just worry about dodging and the occasional boost
or brake makes this game a ton of fun. Often times iOS games either have
you doing way too much for what the controls are capable of or not
enough and Proun+ really finds the balance between those two extremes.
The tracks are very cool looking and inventive. It's hard to get tired
of them.
The Bad
The game is fast paced which can make it a
bit unacceptable to casual gamers. Some tracks are too frantic for tilt
controls only, making players switch to touch to complete them.
The Verdict
Proun+
is a game that would be right at home on PlayStation Network or Xbox
Live Arcade. The deceptive simpleness of gameplay lends itself to
complex and difficult tracks that make a player feel accomplished.
Unlike a majority of iOS games, stabbing your finger at the screen won't
win this one. It will take practice and skill and that's a good thing.
