Frogger is a perennial favorite, crossing highways and perilous
alligator filled rivers to make it to your Froggy home. But what if the
poor frog never got to stop and was just faced with a never ending path
of obsticles? Hipster Road answers this question with Crossy Road, in
which players will have to constantly dodge cars and time their jumps
perfectly to avoid certain death.
The Good
The
graphics are a cool twist on the pixel styling. Everything is made of
blocks, sort of like a cross between Minecraft and the Original Mario
Bros. The social features are actually cool with your friend's names
marking their high scores, and trying to surpass them is a fun way to
compete. There are IAP, but they're only for character skins and
characters can collect coins in game that be used to unlock them as
well.
The Bad
There's not a ton of variety in gameplay or scenery. The lack of depth will turn some players off.
The Verdict
Crossy
Road is how free gaming should be done. It's fun fast-paced gameplay is
a blast to pass the time while waiting in lines or just if you want to
zone out for a while. However, if you're someone that needs some depth
to be entertained you won't find it here.
