DeNA, Hasbro unleash Transformers: Age of Extinction on iOS

DeNA and Hasbro have partnered to release Transformers: Age of Extinction on iOS devices, the official mobile game for the upcoming theatrical film of the same name. The title is described as a "combat runner," and sees gamers taking on the role of the Autobots in both robot mode and vehicle mode.

In each mission, players run away from the screen, tilting the device to move left and right. Buttons allow users to jump or use their melee or ranged weapons to attack oncoming enemies, and users can hold another button to transform into a vehicle. These vehicles move much faster than the robots do on foot, and give users a chance to perform a special attack when they let go of the button to turn back into a robot in front of an enemy.
At the end of each mission, players earn stars, which are used in bulk to unlock additional playable characters. Users can complete the same level location multiple times, completing different missions, until they've earned all three stars at the location. Meanwhile, various forms of premium and free currency can be used to purchase new gear in the store, or upgrade existing Transformers to stronger forms.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction – The Official Mobile Game is a fantastic game not just for people who enjoy action-packed mobile games but also for Transformers fans everywhere," said Mark Blecher, SVP of digital gaming & corporate development at Hasbro. "Defeating your enemies with Grimlock is a defining moment for any true Transformers fan."
Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters on June 27, but gamers can play the iOS game right now, for free. A Google Play release will follow.
