So you've got an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 6 Plus and you're trying to find the best way to show off your shiny new purchase with the best games you can muster. 1. Modern Combat 5: Blackout

This entry in the Modern Combat franchise is undoubtedly one of the greatest mobile shooters you can find on the market right now. Modern Combat: Blackout carries the pedigree of the rest of the Modern Combat franchise, with a fantastic single-player mode that places you in the shoes of one Caydan Phoenix, the "everyman" soldier who runs from point A to point B, gun in hand, eliminating enemy threats. While the narrative is paltry compared to that of "big budget" shooters, it's engaging enough to sustain a single-player campaign that's divided into bite-sized chunks. And it looks especially good on one or both of these devices.

2. Infinity Blade 3

This gorgeous, sweeping RPG is the pinnacle of what your iOS device has to offer, with plenty of quests, a narrative that's entertaining, and a lush fantasy world that you'll want to explore at every turn. Classic JRPG progression, gesture-controlled combat, and an absolutely gorgeous interface work together to ensure that this one of the best-looking and most impressive examples of what the hardware has to offer, especially given its status at the top of so many "best-of" lists out on the web.

3. The Room 2

The Room 2 is a 3D puzzle game. Players are challenged by a series of rooms in which there are several interconnected puzzles. Actions you take towards solving one puzzle in the room will affect the other puzzles in the room which will eventually lead to opening a portal to the next set of puzzles. This game is a sequel to the first The Room, but players need not worry about missing anything if they play this one first, although the the original game is also excellent. It makes excellent use of the touchscreen with players having to simulate actions such as lifting lids and turning keys, and although some puzzles were tough to figure out, none of the clues were so obscure as to be frustrating. This may be the mobile game of the year and really sets the bar for what games made exclusively for mobile devices should aspire to.

4. The Walking Dead

Telltale Game's hit series The Walking Dead is a point and click adventure game. Set in the immediate aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, players must take on the part of Lee Everett, a convict who was on his way to prison when the epidemic broke out. The first season of The Walking Dead has Lee finding Clementine, a girl whose parents had been away from home when the world started falling apart. It is a tale of redemption, sacrifice, and people pushed to their limits, and players must make choices that truly affect the outcome of the game. The second season is also available with the same pricing scheme.

5. 2048

This hit puzzler is played on a 4x4 grid. Players must slide blocks up and down and side to side containing numbers, when two of the same number are together, they can be combined to make the one block which contains the sum of the numbers on the original two blocks. The objective is to combine number blocks until the add up to the number 2048. If all the grid is filled with blocks and you can no longer combine any it is game over. These simple concepts add up to an amazingly addictive game which is perfect to play on the go. The developer Gabriele Cirulli programmed it in a weekend just to see if he could program a game from scratch and almost 500,000 installs on iOS alone makes it seem like he was fairly successful at his goal. Be wary however, as there are plenty of clones of this game out there, the original and the only one recommended here is 2048 by Gabriele Cirulli.

6. Madden NFL Mobile

Madden NFL Mobile has come a long way since last year's edition. In addition to new graphical improvements, the game is significantly less restrictive than last years iteration. The energy meter does make a comeback, after each action the meter goes down and players must either wait a specific amount of time or pay for "Madden Cash" to refill the meter. Live events are new to this years edition and are special limited time events that players can participate in to earn extra rewards. Also, making their first appearance are "Live Auctions" in which players can auction off the player cards that they don't want. All in all, Madden has improved, and plenty of fun can be had here for NFL fans.

7. Dead Trigger 2

Dead Trigger 2 is a fast-paced zombie killing first-person-shooter. The controls are very sharp for a FPS on a touchscreen, with guns firing automatically as soon as the crosshair is close enough to an enemy, leaving players to concentrate on aiming. The game is constantly receiving updates from the developers and features online leaderboards and weekly tournaments. The graphics are stunning for a mobile game and the devs made great use of the Unity engine. The in-app purchases aren't stifling, players can discover blueprints for new weapons or tools which then take real time to craft, or you can buy premium currency to use to instantly have them. It really doesn't take anything away from the game and you can continue to kill zombies as you wait if you are not inclined to pay real dollars to speed up the process. As far as FPSs go, this is one of the best experiences you're going to have on your iPhone.

8. Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars - Director's Cut

This game is an enhanced remake of the original 1996 point-and-click adventure of the same name. The game centers on uncovering a mystery involving ancient secrets and the activity of both the old and modern iterations of the Knight's Templar. This game features absolutely great writing, and both fans of adventure games and the mystery genre in general will find plenty to love here. The other games in the series have also been remade, and are available in the App Store, so if your craving for mystery hasn't been sated be sure to check them out too!

9. 10000000

10000000 is a hybrid RPG-puzzler in which players must match tiles to help their adventurer in his dungeon quest. The main component of the game, the dungeon run, takes place on a 7x8 grid which is filled with tiles featuring various icons. Players must match three of these tiles together which will result in an action occurring with the adventurer at the top of the screen. There is a bit of strategy involved as certain tiles combinations are only useful during certain times. For example, when the adventurer is in a fight players would want to concentrate on matching sword and wand tiles to defeat their enemy, if the adventurer is at a chest, players would need to match key tiles to open it. Players must be quick though, failure to defeat enemies or make matches in a timely manner will result in the adventurer being pushed further and further back on the screen, too far and he will fall off and players will have to start their run again. After each run the loot earned on the run will be tallied and a score will be given which will bring the player further on their quest to get 10,000,000 points.

10. Bioshock

Return to Rapture in this mobile offering of the 2k Games hit Bioshock. This game is probably the most demanding app in the App Store on the iPhone's hardware, but 2k Games has done a great job rendering such a huge and iconic game on the small screen. The controls can be a bit unwieldy in the heat of battle, but if it's your first time playing or a return to the game after a hiatus you can be sure that this is a faithful recreation.
