Keep Those Hearts Filled!
Monsu, like many other F2P titles, runs on a "hearts" system. Use your lives sparingly, because if you die and you keep running back in immediately to restart, you're going to have to wait 15 whole minutes before you can play again. Take some time out to customize your monster before heading back in to play and don't spend currency on jumping back in. Alternatively, don't waste it on continuing where you die, either. You'll be better served starting anew, especially as you gain additional power-ups.
Cards and Diamonds
Every time you're rewarded with a new card in Monsu, take a look at its specific abilities to see if it meshes with your play style. For instance, if you jump on enemies themselves and kill them rather than waiting on your level buddy to do it, you'd want cards that instead grant other abilities, like invincibility or a shield. Don't just slap cards on and go. Think about which cards complement each other, like one that allows you to smash through houses easier and build up a flame shield with the more houses you smash through.
Alternatively, go for cards that net you the most gold, because in the end you'll need to spend it to earn additional goodies. And if you don't plan for it early, you'll find that you can't do any upgrading and will keep getting stuck at the same places in the levels.
You can earn diamonds for free, but you have to work for them. Seek out additional diamonds by completing solely the "bonus missions," which are clearly denoted on your mission select screen. Don't spend them all on restarting the level, because you can use the rare and epic card packs to build up your repertoire of abilities.
Completing Missions
It's important to play Monsu daily, especially because you can glean additional opportunities for cards, diamonds, and the premium in-app currency. Even if you don't think you're going to be able to complete the mission, give it a try anyway because in many cases you'll be able to pick up the power-ups in the level to make it through. Should you miss out on a daily mission, you'll be given the opportunity to go back and use premium currency to do it over. This way, you don't have to miss out!
With these tips and tricks, you'll get your gold back from those pesky villagers in no time.
