Ironclad Tactics Marches Towards The Play Stor

There have been many combinations that go surprisingly well together. Peanut Butter and Chocolate, Pizza and Bagels, Dynasty Warriors and Zelda (I’m loving Hyrule Warriors.) Well now, you can add Civil War, Steampunk and card game to that list. Ironclad Tactics marches its way from the PC to the Android.
The basic structure mixes lane-based games like Plants vs Zombies with a collectible card game. The action plays out in real time; you’ll still have to wait for action points to accumulate before you can deploy units, weapons, or movement modifications. The core of the game revolves around the steam-powered Ironclad automatons, possessed by both the Union and the Confederacy in this alternate history, though you’ll have the opportunity to play as conventional soldiers as well.
The story plays out in various comic book panels that are surprisingly light in tone given the subject matter (it is the Civil War, you know.) Aside from being scaled down for the phone, the game looks almost identical to the PC version.
The game comes to us from Zachtronics, who also developed SpaceChem. The game is available for free with “no ridiculous in-app purchases” but the game is still listed on the Play Store as offering in-app purchases, so tread carefully (though I think they may include the additional story that they released on Steam.)
