Terra Battle iPhone Review

Role-playing games are a popular genre, and Terra Battle puts a new spin on turn based combat. If you enjoy a hefty dose of strategy with your mobile games, it comes highly recommended.

The Good
In it, your world is on the brink of destruction. You lead a group of warriors and set out to meet the Maker, who is the only person who can save it. You do this by recruiting warriors to join the cause to help battle legions of monsters. There are a lot of people for you to recruit if you have the money to do so. All of the warriors have different skills and abilities that you will have at your disposal, and it is your job to figure out how to use them.
Terra Battle has a neat battle system where you need to flank an opponent with two characters to attack. You can also link up other characters with the two attacking to form more powerful chain attacks. The characters move on a grid system, and each character and enemy has a counter that tells when they can move.
Furthermore, there are a lot of unlockable abilities and upgrades to outfit your characters with. Characters level up with each battle, and weapons and more warriors can be purchased with gold. All of this adds to the strategy element.
The Bad
Terra Battle works on an energy system. Your energy consumption is less at the beginning of the game, but it increases as you progress, so it definitely becomes a hassle as you go through the story. It breaks up the flow of the game, and unless you want to pay to recharge, you will need to take breaks, which is always an annoyance.
On top of that, the animations come up short. There are a lot of unique character designs, but you do not get to see character interactions or attacks except for stills and pictures. Having battle animations definitely would of added more aesthetic appeal.
Finally, there's no multiplayer mode. Not being able to compete against others definitely hurts.
The Verdict
Terra Battle will open a lot of eyes for those who decide to download it. It has a good story and a lot of options available with more on the way, and despite its faults, you should still give it a look.
Download Terra Battle for iPhone, iPad and Android.
