Super Bobby iPhone Review

Those of you who prefer simple platforming games where you don't have to worry about wall-jumping and tough-to-reach coins may find a lot to like about Super Bobby. This free-to-play platformer harkens back to the good old days of bopping off enemies and collecting coins as you take charge of an astronaut attempting to get back to his home world.

The Good
It may not be as artistically pretty as other platform games on the App Store, but Super Bobby does have a simplistic charm to it. Both the good guys and the bad have a non-threatening design to them, and the levels have enough collectible coins to keep platforming fans and kids busy. It's also great to have a secondary character available that can shoot fireballs, although even more characters would've been nice to see. It really is free-to-play too, and there are no other purchase to even consider.
The Bad
There's bad with the good when it comes to Super Bobby, most noticeable when it comes to the simple, repetitive animations and rather plain backgrounds. The gameplay can also be "floaty" at times, with fireballs flying straight over enemies' heads, and your characters jumping too high for their own good. There isn't much replay value here either, beyond new high score attempts - you'll probably collect ever coins within two hours and be done with it
The Verdict
While Super Bobby's unlikely to win any honors, it won't cost you a cent to try it out, and you could certainly do a lot worse in the platforming genre. Give it a try.
