Although it has a few technical hang-ups that get in the way of fully enjoying the game, Monsta Brick Breaker still provides plenty of ball-and-paddle fun without having to lay down a single cent. For some, that'll be worth the download on its own.
Here are some tips to help get you started in the game.
What power-ups are available in Monsta Brick Breaker?
The power-ups you'll want to use in the game are colored in green and blue. The green ones provide a certain effect for your character, such as a bigger shield, or a magnet to hold the ball in place for a few seconds. You can also get a rocket that eliminates anything it touches, and a ball splitter that turns one into three, making it easy to eliminate multiple bricks at a time. These appear at random, so watch out for when they come flying out of destroyed blocks.
What's the difference between the different power-up colors in Monsta Brick Breaker?
In addition to the green power-ups (and coins), there is also a blue multiplier. Make sure you pick this one up, as it doubles your score for the remainder of the round.
What do the red power-ups do in Monsta Brick Breaker?
You should avoid the red power-ups at all costs.. These are actually power-downs, and the main one to look out for is the paddle reducer which - as you might guess - shrinks down the size of your monster's platform. Avoid these when you see them, if at all possible.
Can I buy additional power-ups in Monsta Brick Breaker?
Nope, they're awarded at random, so you'll just have to roll with the luck of the draw.
How does the Suppa Monster meter work in Monsta Brick Breaker?
You build this by collecting "fuel" that's available in the array of power-ups on each stage. Once it fills up, your monster transforms into a fire-breathing behemoth, and you can guide its fire by dragging your finger across the screen. In addition, any blocks you destroy with its breath turn into coins, which your monster will automatically pick up.
How do I unlock new stages in Monsta Brick Breaker?
There are three tiers of stages in the game overall, but only the first, Castle's Tower, is available to play right away. You can unlock the other two, Space Bricks and Classic Breaker, for 800 coins apiece, or just work progressively through the first stage to unlock them over time.
How do I unlock new monsters in Monsta Brick Breaker?
Most of the other monsters in the game don't differ much from the starter one you're given, but they do provide some interesting cosmetic changes - we're big fans of the Diablosta Monsta, who has a devilish appearance. The Monta-Rex hails from the Stone Age, and then there's the pirate-oriented Buccamonsta.
Some monsters do provide power-ups. The Miamsta Glouba can attract coins off the ground, the Magic Tiki gives you double coin count, and the Chewpuke Gawak gives you double points. You'll need to pay a lot of coins to unlock them though, ranging from 5,000 to 20,000.
How do I unlock a classic paddle in Monsta Brick Breaker?
If you just want a traditional paddle to play with, you can buy one for the very cheap price of just 50 coins. It'll be just like a good old-fashioned game of Breakout once you've unlocked it!
Can I take on friends in Monsta Brick Breaker?
There's no direct multiplayer, but you can sign in to the ScoreLoop service - which won't cost you any money - and compare your best high scores with them.
