The Good
Gun Zombie 2's controls work well, and aiming at zombies couldn't be easier. The waves get progressively harder as you go along, and the Blitz and Daily Challenge modes allow you to compete with friends for leaderboard glory. You can also blow through a pretty good amount of the game at no charge, although dedicated players will want to drop a few dollars on the premium weapons. Last - but by no means least - we got a big kick out of the announcer, who clearly channels the classic Mortal Kombat when he yells "Flawless victory!"
The Bad
While Gun Zombie 2's certainly fun, it's also quite repetitive, as you'll use the same main firearm throughout most of the missions. There are other weapons and special bullet types to arm yourself with, but you'll need to pay gold to unlock them - and that requires real cash. Also, while some of the more freakish creatures in Gun Zombie 2 are cool, there's a distinct lack of male ones. Whoever designed this game really, really hates female zombies. Finally, there's very little change to the background layouts, so even the visuals feel repetitive pretty quickly.
The Verdict
We don't expect Gun Zombie 2 to overtake House of the Dead: Overkill- The Lost Reels as the go-to game for zombie slaying mayhem. The freemium set-up and lack of visual thrills hold it back quite a bit. Those looking for some fresh blood without putting too much of a dent in their wallet will want to give it a look though.
