The Good
Fish & Shark is an endless running game (endless swimmer is probably more accurate). You control either good fish or bad shark, and tap the screen to jump over walls, rocks and other obstacles. The game is different depending on what character you control, and your score is based on how many obstacles you clear and the number of coins collected when playing as good fish. As bad shark, you move faster and your score is also dependent upon how many coins you collect. In addition, Fish & Shark has a co-op mode that can be played on one device. You and a friend control half of the screen as you both run the course. The amount of time you hold your finger on the screen dictates how high your character jumps. The timing of your jumps is key to getting over obstacles, and it takes practice to get the timing down.
Fish & Shark features beautiful 3D graphics, similar to Minecraft, and the game will shift perspective during play. Your character usually swims right, but sometimes the game shifts and you move into the background or foreground.
The Bad
Fish & Shark's course layout is the same each time you start the game, making the scenery repetitive. When you die, it is randomized where you start the next time. Sometimes you play from the last checkpoint, while other times they start you at the beginning, which gets confusing. On top of that, the game's split screen mode is a little tough to play with the iPhone because of the small screen size. The game seems to give you a lot of extra options, but mostly, it's the same experience every time. The Verdict
Fish & Shark is a decent endless runner game that looks beautiful. The game takes a lot of practice to get good at because of the jump mechanics and timing. It's fun at first, but eventually grows tiresome due to a lack of scenery.Download Fish & Shark for iPhone and iPad.
