The Good
Galactic Defense possesses many of the same traits you'd expect from any other tower defense game, with a hefty selection of maps, various difficulties, and plenty of familiar faces from the Star Wars universe to play as. There's even a leveling system that allow you to power-up your favorite characters and boost them up to meet your expectations.The maps are interesting enough (if bland), and the combat itself is satisfying, if a little simple at the beginning. There's plenty for Star Wars fans to do and see, but unfortunately it remains a front for what's to come for players who stick around long enough to see the negative sides of the game.
The Bad
This is a very basic and generic tower defense game that nearly feels as though a regular "model" of tower defense was reskinned with Star Wars characters and locales, then loaded up with frustrating IAPs and other pushes to get you to spend more money than you feel comfortable with. And given the fact that the base game isn't all that impressive, with artificial difficulty, one-time specials crowding the screen every time you go into the game, and an energy system squandering what could have been done with the license.The Verdict
DeNa's freemium Star Wars tower defense title sounded like an interesting concept when it first emerged, but having spent some time on it, it's quite disappointing, namely within how generic it feels and the barrage of IAPs thrown at the player within the first few moments of play throughout the entire life cycle of the game on your device.
