The Good
In Retry your only worry is reaching the end point without crashing. You tap the screen to control your plane, which is quite prone to doing so -- in fact, it's terribly difficult to control your plane and thus crashing is all you might be doing for some time. It isn't a simple old swipe the screen game, and that's where some of the problems lie. You have to keep tapping the screen to keep it in the air and the length you hold your tap determines how your plane flies. The physics of the plane are quite sophisticated, and it takes a lot of practice to be able to fly well or make any headway through the game. You can earn up to three stars for completing each level depending on the number of crashes, retries, and distance flown. There are checkpoints in between each start and end point, but they can only be used if you pay one coin and coins are hard to come by, so more often than not you need to fly perfectly through a level in one shot. Everything about the game is a throwback to early days of video games. The game's graphics and sound utilize an old-school 8-bit style. Even the music sounds like it's from a cheesy '80s movie. People who grew up playing the NES will definitely enjoy playing this game. The game also doesn't use an energy system, so you are free to play and retry the game as often as you want.
