The Good
Space Age is an adventure title that allows you to step into the shoes of Green Team, a group who's tasked with exploring a foreign and alien world while simultaneously trying to figure out what dangers await them and how to circumvent them. You're the Private, and you gather items, combine them to solve puzzles, and even trap enemies and command other characters in battle. Over the 14 different chapters in-game you'll be faced with a wealth of scenarios, including stealth missions and other exploratory assignments.The gorgeous pixel art works well to amplify the nostalgia factor, and while the characters can be quite tiny on-screen, it's still very welcome here. The sweeping soundtrack is also impressive, especially given its excellent usage of sound effects to keep you immersed.
The Bad
While there's plenty of content in-game to keep you busy, some of it is a bit frustrating to get to considering the game's agonizingly slow movement speed and some cheap deaths. Given the unique system in which players explore in Space Age, you can sometimes be met with an unfortunate and swift fate without having a chance to react, and that can be extremely frustrating - especially within the stealthier segments.The Verdict
Overall, Space Age is a beautiful and intelligent adventure with a few flaws that's still very much worth checking out, especially if you're hankering for some old-school pixel action or something decidedly familiar.Download Space Age for iPhone and iPad.
