Shadowrun Dragonfall is set to hit iOS and Android next week

The sequel to last year's Silver Award-winning RPG reboot Shadowrun Returns is set to hit iOS and Android next week.

It's called Shadowrun Dragonfall, it's been out on the PC for about three months, and features a polished UI, shinier graphics, and a bunch of upgrades that you'd expect from a sequel.
The game should hit iOS and Android simultaneously next Thursday, so there'll be no grumbling about who got what first.
At review we said "Shadowrun Returns has enough going for it to make it an easy recommendation."
Hopefully the sequel will continue in that same vein.

Awesome Mobile MOBAs

Vainglory is taking the mobile gaming world by storm, but for those of your still on older devices, or who just want to play something different there is a plethora of mobile-MOBAs available. Translating the frantic pace and tactical gameplay of a MOBA to mobile can be difficult work, but here are some of our favorite games that we thing got it right.

Heroes of Order & Chaos

herosofchaos
This game was one of the first MOBAs to hit iOS and it is still a blast. Combat in Heroes of Order and Chaos is a constant game of tactical decision-making and timing. The game does feature a whopping 40 characters, however there are only three maps which can get repetitive. Gameloft has kept this game updated for two years and it still has a strong player base.

The Witcher: Battle Arena

The_Witcher_Battle_Arena_1
Although this game isn't quite out yet (it's still in closed beta), it's one to keep its eye on as Developer CD Projekt Red is known for the high quality of their titles. Although it seems to be fairly, although polished MOBA affair, it can be assumed that there will be no premium currency or any gimmicks in this game.
Currently in Closed Beta check here for updates.

Solstice Arena

1102746_668933093132001_1396807953_o
Branded as a "speed-MOBA", Solstice Arena, which was first released on PC, translates great to mobile play. Instead of the typical grinding and towers, this game is almost all power-up based and is great for players on the go. The only drawbacks to this game is the small amount of heroes and the cost to unlock new ones. However, if you don't mind sticking with a few characters this game is sure to be a joy.

Plants War

mzl
Playing as Leafy, the lone hero as you attempt to defend your motherland from the invasion of evil. Leafy can be upgraded into several different forms, including Muscles Leafy and Quick Leafy. This is another freemium title, but I managed to have quite a bit of fun with it without paying any real money The music is pleasing and the bright and well done graphics and tight controls make this game worth checking out.

Legendary Heroes

legendheros
This offering from Maya Games is a bit of a generic offering, but is a great game for new players looking to get their feet wet when it comes to the MOBA genre. The game consists of 30 short levels in which players must attempt to destroy their enemy's towers and source well while they're attempting to do the same to you. Touch controls are solid, and although the game is a freemium title, players have access to plenty of the game without having to pay any real cash.

Vainglory iPhone Review

Back when the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were announced, there was a game announced for both devices that was meant to use iOS 8's Metal graphics to utilize them to the fullest. It was called Vainglory, and we got our first taste of it at the special Apple event back in September. It's a special MOBA that's finally been rolled out to the US and several other countries, and as one of the most hotly-anticipated titles of the year, it's smartly living up to the hype surrounding it and showing that even mobile MOBAs can still be a hot property.

The Good

Vainglory is easily one of the best-looking titles on the App Store, with lush and gorgeous environments, meticulously detailed characters, and a strong selection of MOBA characteristics that make it a joy to play. You take three members of a team and do your best to attack the enemy base, with squads taking their battle solely online. Once one squad destroys the crystal located at the other's base, they've won.
You and your squadmates face up against enemy armaments like turrets and other strategically placed defenses in order to push through and conquer. You've even got minions to do your dirty work, and there's plenty of it to go around. Winning matches and pulling off impressive combos nets you gold, which you can use for upgrades specifically for each match, as well as maximizing your special abilities that come in truly short supply.
Each match takes about 30 minutes to complete, and there are already tons of players abound to engage with. It's decadent and satisfying, and though rife with several of the tropes that make up the genre, it's still an absolutely enjoyable experience overall. Played on iPad, it feels nearly flawless, especially given the fact that mobile developers seem to have trouble getting these things right.

The Bad

Vainglory is free-to-play but instead of limiting how often you can play, it limits the characters you have access to. You'll have to pony up to unlock other characters, and this can be frustrating if you don't feel like you particularly jibe well with a certain characters. There's also no voice chat, which can make things particularly difficult, especially when in the heat of a match and communication is so sorely needed.

The Verdict

Vainglory is an excellent showcase of what can be done with iOS 8's Metal engine, and exemplary of MOBAs in general. It could even go toe to toe with PC releases. For that reason, it's certainly one free-to-play title that you'd do well to download.

Space Age iPhone Review

Space is the place, and Space Age, a point-and-click adventure title that channels the likes of '90s LucasArts titles and similar adventures is one mission you'll definitely want to go on. Hop aboard and travel the galaxy with this forward-thinking romp.

The Good

Space Age is an adventure title that allows you to step into the shoes of Green Team, a group who's tasked with exploring a foreign and alien world while simultaneously trying to figure out what dangers await them and how to circumvent them. You're the Private, and you gather items, combine them to solve puzzles, and even trap enemies and command other characters in battle. Over the 14 different chapters in-game you'll be faced with a wealth of scenarios, including stealth missions and other exploratory assignments.
The gorgeous pixel art works well to amplify the nostalgia factor, and while the characters can be quite tiny on-screen, it's still very welcome here. The sweeping soundtrack is also impressive, especially given its excellent usage of sound effects to keep you immersed.

The Bad

While there's plenty of content in-game to keep you busy, some of it is a bit frustrating to get to considering the game's agonizingly slow movement speed and some cheap deaths. Given the unique system in which players explore in Space Age, you can sometimes be met with an unfortunate and swift fate without having a chance to react, and that can be extremely frustrating - especially within the stealthier segments.

The Verdict

Overall, Space Age is a beautiful and intelligent adventure with a few flaws that's still very much worth checking out, especially if you're hankering for some old-school pixel action or something decidedly familiar.
Download Space Age for iPhone and iPad.

Tainted Keep on iOS and Android

Tainted Keep is a 3D action adventure that sees you stomping through the titular keep, slashing up skeletons and trying to stay alive for as long as you can.

It's pretty simple to play. You use one floating stick to wander around and another to fight.
Push the stick forward to slash, pull it back to block. The same stick controls your camera though, which can make things a little fiddly.
Everything looks particularly shiny, and while the castle environments are a little on the brown side, the character design is interesting enough that it doesn't really matter.
The game is out right now on the App Store and the Google Play Store . If you're looking for a straightforward hacky slashy RPG, you could do a lot worse.

Helpful Hints for Five Nights at Freddy's 2

It's time to return to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. As the new night-shift security guard, you must monitor the premises for break-ins. However, the real danger comes from inside the pizza joint, as at night the animatronics come to life to roam the halls....
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is a tough-nut to crack. Any error or lapse in attention can mean a game-over as one of the jovial animatronic characters enthusiastically kills you. Here are a series of tips to make sure you get the drop on them before they get the drop on you.

Use Your Ears

five_nights_at_freddys_2_the_crew

  • Audio clues are the only way to know some of the animatronics are coming after you, making listening to the game carefully key to beating it. You may want to wear headphones while playing to make sure you can hear every clang and thud.
  • Make sure you listen to the guy on the phone. Although it sounds nonsensical at times, his messages deliver hints and story context. Make sure you listen at least once each night as the messages change day to day.

The Animatronics

039047c2d640c52ea8228f36d5aed948

  • Each animatronic has a unique behavior. To win the game you'll have to learn which deterrent works against them. Your mask will work to trick them in many cases, but some will only be chased off by your flashlight.
  • The one animatronic that is a constant looming threat is The Marionette. On camera 11 there is a music box that you MUST keep wound. If you let the box run down it will release The Marionette who can go anywhere. He will not be deterred by the flashlight or mask, so if the music runs out, it's game over.
  • Animatronics will be using the hallway in front of your office quite a bit. Don't panic. Unless an animatronic is actually in your office there is no sense in using your mask.

The Office

steamworkshop_webupload_previewfile_329921390_preview

  • Camera 11 is the only camera you should really need to view. The animatronics movement is random and they can only get to you if they're in the office anyway so don't waste time fiddling with the cameras.
  • Get in the habit of putting your mask on as soon as you come out of the camera screen. This can prevent you being attacked in case an animatronic has snuck up on you.
  • If you see something peering down at you from the vent, quickly put on the mask. You can tell they've left by the thumps indicating that they've moved out of the area
Five Nights At Freddy's is definitely a study in trial and error. Each game will end up with puppets randomly appearing and attacking so there is no pattern that can be memorized to get through the game. Although the going may get hard sometimes, using these tips and your wits will help you survive your stint at Freddy's.

When we reviewed the iOS version we said "it's easy to lose yourself in the rich world, immersive lore, and forest of side-quests of The Shadow Sun."
So if you'd like to do that on your Android device, head on over to the Google Play Store where you can grab the game for £2.99 / $4.99.

Fast Finger – Android Review

Fast Finger is a casual game that not only tests your reflexes, but also your patience. For that reason alone, it is best to play this game in short bursts. Otherwise, one might be tempted to throw their device off the roof of the Empire State Building in utter frustration. Some people will like it and be challenged by its difficulty, but some people will hate it from the outset and swear never to lay another finger on their touch screen as long as that app lives inside their device. You get what I mean.
“Simply speaking, you either love it or hate it.”
The simple explanation of what this game is about is that you use your finger to go from one point to another. However, in between, there will be a series of obstacles that are constantly plotting to murder the dot on the screen that denotes your finger movement. So from the starting point, you trace your finger through blades and lasers and missiles to reach the end.

You are given one, two or three stars based on the time it takes for you to navigate the obstacle course. The faster you are, the more stars you get. If you die, the level simply starts over to encourage you to try again and again and again and again until you run out of lives. The maximum number of lives given is 40. If that sounds like a lot of lives, well, it’s really not. In a difficult level, I can run through all 40 lives in under a minute. It doesn’t take very long for you to start and meet an untimely death by the hands of a moving blade.
But I guess that is the beauty of it. In the past few years, we have seen a weird resurgence of ultra-difficult games in players that complain that games are just too easy nowadays. Well if you are one of those people, this is definitely the game for you. The game just works against you all the time and is designed to kill you at any cost.

“With every fit of rage caused by the game though, there is also the ultimate satisfaction of successfully completing an almost impossible level.”
So much so that completing a level can give you the urge to jump and start dancing around your room, or to call up your best friend and rub in his/her face. Yes, the thing that will turn most people off, is the very thing that keeps you going for just another try.

I have to applaud the developers, BluBox Games, for their innovative level design. Just when you think it can’t get any harder, they prove you wrong. Every time a new level pops up, it makes me gasp and say “Oh sh-t”. Watching my previous attempts falter and explode into a million pixels gives me an uncomfortable feeling of incompletion that only motivates me to go again.
Seeing how other people accomplish it reinforces the belief that hey, it CAN be done!
If I have managed to pique your interest, or if you just feel like giving this a shot, you can download Fast Finger . My advice, whether you choose to listen or not, is to give it a try. Since it is totally free, and it is a casual game, you can always remove it when you feel sick of it, or just play another game and give it another 40 tries whenever you feel like it.
Score: 4.2/5

Bomb on Bus arrives onto Android

Over Easy Games had just released a new endless runner game titled Bomb on Bus for the Android. The game’s theme may remind you of the 90′s flick Speed which stared Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. And in this game you are the driver of a bus and your job is to navigate the bus while driving at top speeds, so that the bomb won’t detonate.
Bomb on Bus is a new fast paced game that in no way has a premise that is suspiciously similar to a certain blockbuster movie from the mid-90′s. If we’re going to throw around a fancy genre term you could say its one of those endless runners, like that Temple one or what’s his face? Or, you could say its the touching story of a bus that couldn’t slow down.” - Over Easy Games
Bomb-On-Bus-Game-1
Features:
  • A bus, a bridge, a tunnel, a flux capacitor, an ambulance and a whole lot of action.
  • Full vehicle physics
  • Item upgrades
  • Google Play Leaderboards
  • Google Play Achievements
If you are a fan of  endless runners then Bomb on Bus is free to download from the Google Play Store

Big Hero 6 Bot Fight iPhone Review

Big Hero 6 is the latest game to have joined the Disney stable in the realm of match-3 titles. As a tie-in to a modern animated film it could be extremely barebones, but luckily it follows in the footsteps of the excellent puzzle match games that came before it. This is one free-to-play title that you'll actually want to download and spend time with.

The Good

If you haven't seen Big Hero 6, you don't need to worry about the game spoiling the film for you. It's a simple cut and dry affair that follows young Hiro Hamada and his cuddly-looking white robot. You spend more time, however, with other bots as the title implies, by using a lucky cat capsule game and completing missions as well as fighting off enemy robots.
Combat is very much the same as in games like Puzzle and Dragons or Doctor Who: Legacy. Make similar elemental matches to attack and stave off advancing enemies. You can arrange combos to do additional damage, and the better you do, the more bots you can expect to receive in turn. It's a fairly addictive cycle, even if it's one you're probably familiar with.

The Bad

After you complete missions and fight off enemies, you're stuck dealing with a lack of energy that feels longer and longer to replenish each time you deplete it. When the game is so simple, quick, and addictive, this severely limits the amount of time you can spend in-game without resorting to purchasing currency (Prisms as they're called) to be able to continue when you're ready rather than being forced to wait.

The Verdict

Big Hero 6: Bot Fight isn't the most original match-3 puzzler on the block, but for a licensed title and simple match game it's pretty fun, acting as at the very least a substitute for when you're waiting for energy to drop on its bigger brothers. And you've gotta hand it to Disney for not going the route of yet another endless runner. Jeez.

The Shadow Sun is 'coming soon' to Android

Ossian Studios has announced that its Silver Award-winning RPG The Shadow Sun will be "coming soon" to Android.
Unfortunately, a more precise idea of when the game might arrive on Android wasn't issued.
This shouldn't be too painful if you're among those who have been beta-testing the game on Android since April this year.
If you aren't among that selected bunch of people then find one and throw as much of your jealousy at them as possible. It'll be good practice for the many conflicts you'll get yourself into in The Shadow Sun.
It's an RPG after all, and that usually means spell and sword fights are guaranteed - in this care, they are. You'll also get to adopt a dog so it's not all vicious scraps and running away from plagues.
In our review of the iOS version, we said: "It's easy to lose yourself in the rich world, immersive lore, and forest of side-quests of The Shadow Sun."
It's available for £5.49 / $7.99 on the App Store so expect a similar price on Android whenever it does arrive.

Review: Obslashin'

"Oh death, where is thy sting?" reads the oft-quoted cry from Corinthians."Right here, in this swordfish the size of a BMW 4 Series Coupé," replies Obslashin's hero, swinging his fishy weapon like a steroidal New Yorker at the slew of monsters that roam the expansive dungeons of this free to play frenzy.
 Obslashin' Android, thumbnail 1
Now if gladiatorial marine life seems like an odd choice of weaponry, prepare your eyebrows for a rapid ascent into your hairline at the news that this militantly aggressive hero is, in fact, a ginger cat.
That's right. In Obslashin' you are a proverbial Puss in Boots armed with a beleaguered swordfish – yet somehow enemies fall before you like a thousand Jennifer Lawrence's tackling carpeted stairs.
It's this prodigal dose of personality that makes Obslashin' so brilliant. This is a game that makes no apologies for its lack of storyline and has no explanation for its set up.
But that doesn't matter. The almost non-existent start menu plunges you straight into the action, so you'd better start swinging.

Hake and slash

Each level works by releasing an increasing number of powerful enemies into the confined space you're trapped in. Once you fight your way through, you have exactly three seconds to heal, level up and grab any fallen collectibles before the cat warrior zips through a door into the next chamber of monsters.
It means the true difficulty of Obslashin' isn't just basic combat, but careful timing. Each felled baddie drops XP that can be used in a basic stat-based leveller menu to upgrade your speed, health, strength, and armour, but you have a very small window to do so.
With literally no cool-down time between battles, Obslashin' is a game that keeps you on your toes despite its simple controls. Attacking requires a quick tap on the screen in the direction you want your character to go, sending him barrelling into enemies like a furry ginger cannonball.
An action bar on the left spices things up by giving you access to bombs, poison, and health potions - all of which come very useful in boss battles. Still, if the rapid gameplay gets a bit much you can turn on auto-battle for some breathing space to choose your stats and preferable potions carefully.
Need more time to mullet over?
A great thing about Obslashin' though is that it doesn't encourage this. The game's AI can't play anywhere near as quickly as you can, meaning if you keep the auto-battle mode active for too long you'll almost certainly die. This is a tool for tactical levelling, not a combat cop out.
Visually, Obslashin' is stunnin'. Honestly its fanged, dungeon dwelling enemies are so pretty it's a wonder they don't have their own perfume line. The styling is cartoonish, but delightfully so, bursting with character and slick animation.

Tapventures free RPG

Tapventures strips away most of the adventuring that we're accustom to in RPGs, and makes do with tapping. You tap the screen to fight enemies. Then you tap some more. More still. Just keep tapping. Yep.
This repetitive task may seem a little shallow. Perhaps it is, but Tapventures uses the power of the unlock loop and incremental progression to keep you hooked.
As you defeat enemies, you earn yourself gold, which you can spend on devices that tap enemies for you. Then you earn some more and buy another. And so it goes.
Tapventures
If you keep going, eventually you won't have to do anything other than wait for time to pass. You can go about your day while steadily progressing through Tapventures.
You will have to move to other locations, and spend your money every now and then. But you get the satisfaction of doing hard work without actually doing any.
If you want to try it out you can download Tapventures on Android for free right now.

Contract Killer: Sniper Review

Contract Killer: Sniper is the next game in the Contract Killer franchise. The game offers a lot of content, but is it worth the time or is it just another faceless soldier?

The Good

In Contract Killer: Sniper, you're a soldier who's tired of the rigid structure of the military and joins up with this organization that takes contract hits on crime villains. You are skilled in multiple forms of weaponry, so namesake aside, there are a lot of weapons and missions for you to carry out. You have knives, assault rifles, bombs, snipers, and more to kill your enemies with, so it's not a simple point, find, and shoot game. When you start a mission you have one primary weapon and that will help determine how you play that mission. There are assault missions and sniper missions. The game let's you move from different cover points to get the best angles to kill your enemies.
In the assault missions, it's a lot of close quarters fighting and the sniper missions are mostly covert operations. So missions, also require you to kill a specific target that you need to locate. The different mission types helps switch up the gameplay, so you aren't just killing random people or animals like in most shooters. The enemies also fire back at you, which is also a switch up from a lot of mobile shooters. The game also offers a base building option, which you can upgrade and take into multiplayer to verse other players in a base versus base mission.

The Bad

Contract Killer: Sniper has many of the same barriers and pitfalls that you see in many other shooter titles. The game requires you to upgrade your weapons for many missions. These upgrades cost a decent amount of money and you will need to play a lot of missions to have enough for the upgrades especially when you play the boss stages, which sometimes require multiple upgrades. This means grinding a lot of lesser missions for money. This might not be as big of a problem if the game didn't work on an energy system as well. Both energy and weapons can be purchased with real money, but that is not an appealing option for most people.

The Verdict

Contract Killer: Sniper adds a couple different element than other mobile shooters, but it still carries the same problems. Moving from cover to cover adds a different strategy element that you don't see in other shooters, but you will still have to do a lot of waiting and grinding to get anywhere in the game. The game is worth a try if you enjoy shooter games, but for most people it can be passed over.

Escape Quest Walkthrough (Level 11-15)

Escape Quest is an escape room game that is interactive and challenging, in a good way. Developed by mobile game supplier, MobiGrow, this game features you as the player trying to find your way out of a locked room through 15 different levels. With the help of this guide, I hope you will find the whole experience, specifically levels 11-15, more liberating. If, like me, you find yourself about to bang your head against the wall trying to think of a solution, then you have come to the right place. Below is the exact instructions for you to pass these 5 levels. But before that, please read the following disclaimer:

Escape Quest SPOILERS:

Similar to the other walkthroughs I have posted, I strongly recommend you try to guess the answers first. There is absolutely no fun if you just come here to copy all the answers. If you are stuck on a level, try asking around. Your friends, family or Facebook contacts might have a clue.  The whole idea of this game is the joy of finding out the answers. Don’t spoil it for yourself by taking the easy way out!

Escape Quest Level 11 Answer

Without further ado, let me get straight to the point.
First of all, notice that one of the lights is missing its lightbulb? Well, pick it up from the red chair and plug it in to the light. The shadow that appears is one of a key.
Use the key on the blue locker and you will find a knife inside. Obviously, there is nothing else to cut here except the delicious looking cake. Don’t eat it though, because there is a screwdriver inside. Seriously, who puts a screwdriver in a cake?!
Logic aside, use the screwdriver to open the ventilation ducts above you. Inside, you will find a hidden camera. Unscrew the camera using the screwdriver to obtain its batteries.
Now, we get to the party hat! I know you’ve been wanting to touch it. Go ahead, touch the yellow one. This will reveal a non-functional clock. Put the batteries inside to get it to work. The clock will strike 1200. Use the number to open the blue box and get the key.
This key opens the orange locker. Solve the cup puzzle and you will be provided with the numbers 3825. Finally, use that number to open the blue locker and solve the puzzle to get the word OPEN. Escape!

Escape Quest Level 12 Answer

This level is one of my favorites. It blends together a mixture of old school board games.
First up – Dart board! Pop the balloon using the dart and pick up the coin that fell from the balloon. Put the coin inside the arcade to begin a level of Pipes. Once you have successfully navigated the waterflow, pick up the yellow tile.
That yellow tile belongs with all the other coloured tiles. Line up the yellow tiles in a diagonal fashion to get a missing part of the dart board.

Pick up the razor from beside the chess board and use it to open your early Christmas presents, Ho Ho Ho! Attach all the telescope parts from the presents and you will be able to see Q-C-3 through the lenses. Complete the dart board with the missing piece and turn it to add up the numbers. Use the code you saw earlier and put the chess piece on C3. Get the key and Escape!

Escape Quest Level 13 Answer

That’s a nice recreation room.
To begin, move the two seats on the left and pick up all the items. This time, instead of plugging in a lightbulb, pluck the lightbulb out of one of the lights and take the key on the blue cushion.
Use the pool stick that you picked up earlier on the white ball to start the game. Hey, you’re quite good at this! Have you played before? Anyway, if you noticed, the balls that went in were 3, 2 and 5.
Open the front of the car with the silver key. Tap the red buttons in the car in the following order: row 2 #1, row 1 #2, row 2 #3, row 1 #4, row 2 #4, row 1 #3, row 2 #2, row 1 #1. Now that they are all green, connect the green lines on the board to start the car. Put the lightbulb into the right headlight and you will see the number 7 on the wall.
Open the car with the gold key and enter 7-325 into the box then take the USB device. Put the USB device into the tablet. Use the paper next to the tablet to decode the tablet:
FETA
8613
YBRG
You will get the code 7425 for the door. Ta Da! Escape!

Escape Quest Level 14 Answer

Those are cool slippers…
First of all, pick up the crowbar and use it on the grey drawer at the top right of the room. Take the radio inside and insert the batteries that you can find in front of the computer monitors and at the top left drawer.
Charge the radio by plugging it into the charger to the left. The numbers 3-9-2 will be displayed on the radio. Use that number to open the briefcase and take what is inside. Use those items to hotwire the cables under the table. This will turn on the computer.
Arrange the order of the CCTV screens by referring to the notepad above the drawers. When the correct arrangement is achieved, the code 4-9-4-9 will appear. Enter the code into the password field. Solve the numbers on the wall just like how you solve Sudoku: the numbers 1 to 9 can only appear once in every horizontal and vertical row and column. Solving this will provide you with a card and a Y keyboard button. Put the button into the keyboard, click Y and use the keycard to escape!

Escape Quest Level 15 Answer

Finally, we are at the last level of Escape Quest! This, obviously, will be long and difficult to solve.
Don’t panic. First thing to do is to pick up anything you can find. The pen on the table, for example. Put the pen in the pen holder which is conveniently missing a pen. Now, grab the purple tile and
put the purple tile on the board. Arrange the colors on the board to fit the tiles around it. Take the CNHD.  Insert the four letters exactly like the image above.
Second part of this puzzle begins with placing the buddha figurines on the table beside the pen holders. Arrange them so that the right buddha faces away from you, and the left buddha faces to the right. Then, tilt the pen to the right and take the key. Use the key in the briefcase to get the flag. Put the flags on the table top: Yellow-white-blue, and the code 6-3-4-8 will be known.
On the computer monitor, move the numbers 6 and 13 up so that the numbers on the right will be 19 and 15. This will give you the code 6-3-2-8. Grab the key from the plant and use it on the key device connected to the computer. The door is now open and you are free!
There you go. Now that I’ve completed the walkthroughs, I’ll probably post a review as well. Until then, I’ll be in search for the next awesome Escape Room game to guide you.

Relaxing Games for iPAD

It's simple enough these days to pick up an endless runner or free to play RPG from the App Store, but when was the last time you were actively engaged with a game that thought outside the box? It's probably been a while, but never far. We've got a collection of titles that take a decidedly different approach to the typical mobile game, and in fact implement many of the same themes to do so. These relaxing adventures promote a feeling of zen that lingers long after you put the game down for a break. Check out our list of awesome games that will have you practicing your yoga poses in no time. If you like what you see, support the developers and let them know you want to see more!

1. HundredsPrice: $4.99

Download for iPhone and iPad.
Hundreds feels less like a video game per se, and more like a brain teaser or art exercise. Its ambient background noise, muted colors, and refusal to adhere to normal gaming convention make it one to watch, especially if you're looking for something a little different. The name refers to the number of levels in the game, as well as the score goal for each one. The numbered bubbles float around in the ether, and you need quick reflexes to tap all of the relevant numbers quickly enough. There are traps standing in the way between you and victory, but the zen factor of Hundreds is undeniable, from the bizarre futuristic techno soundtrack to the obtuse "ending" you're met with upon completion. It's definitely a unique experience that's great for zoning out with, no matter the circumstances.

2. PivvotPrice: $2.99

Download for iPhone and iPad.
Pivvot is an interesting minimalistic diversion that eschews complicated controls/convention for a game that simply flows. You follow a dot that you must navigate around joints on a thick white line by any means necessary. If that means turning your device or yourself to get the best angle, then you definitely will. Some funky beats, stylized levels, and the imminent threat of death if you touch an obstacle mean you'll quickly figure out a rhythm and a method that works best for you so you can keep yourself "alive" as long as possible. It's exciting in the same way that games like Super Hexagon perfected, and when you master its base levels, you can always turn up the heat for a more challenging game.

3. Impossible RoadPrice: $1.99

Download for iPhone and iPad.
If you've ever played the music game Audiosurf, you might feel more familiar with the inventive Impossible Road, a unique combination of roller coasters and on-rails action. It's your job to guide a white ball down a twisting, endless road by simply tapping the sides of the screen in both directions to keep the ball on the track. Once you drop off of the track, it's game over, unless you can maneuver yourself back onto the track by some lucky twist of fate. It's an exciting riff on the endless runner that's hard to put down, especially if you're chasing a new high score. The counter at the top of the screen continues to tease you as you progress, but that's just one more earmark of the game being so darn addictive.

4. MosaiquePrice: $0.99

Download for iPhone and iPad.
Mosaique is a slick-looking puzzler with an interface that invites you to come in and play with as much subtlety as it can muster. What's intriguing about this game is that you can play it however you wish. You can swap different-colored blocks, clear out blocks of the same color, or string together block combos to fill your gauge and continue playing. The ten-minute soundtrack fits beautifully with the urgency of Mosaique, and before you know it you may have sunk quite a few hours into several procedurally-generated levels. It's only a buck, so give it a try!
5. har.mo.nyPrice: $0.99
Download for iPhone and iPad.
The art of the zen puzzler isn't lost on iOS developers, and that's clearly showcased in har.mo.ny, a game that asks you to rearrange blocks to build different color palettes on top of each other. It's relaxing in a way that you wouldn't expect from a puzzle game, but that's where it finds its niche. Over 1000 levels await you as you channel your inner interior decorator, matching swatch to swatch and indulging in a symphony of color and sound that should delight the senses. Just look at all those colors. Needing some inspiration for your next home project? You might just find it here, if you're not too busy playing to get up and get to work on your house.

Review: Monzo

A game about building versions of model kits is, you'd think, the sort of project that might be birthed by the hipster hive mind of Shoreditch. However Monzo is not the work of espresso-addled developers who flunked their art foundation and are now coding to fund their moustache wax habit; it's made by Madfinger.
For the uninitiated, this is the studio that gave us Dead Trigger - a game full of enough zombies, blood and guts to supply a George A. Romero movie set.
 Monzo Android, thumbnail 1
You get the sense that after spending months animating blood spurting forth from a rifle fire cannonade, the folks at Madfinger games all sat around a table together in silence - palms clammy and faces pale - before someone whispered in a voice barely audible above the soft hum of the air conditioning: “Can we make a nice game now?”
And thus, Monzo was born.

Fresh out the box
The game is marketed as a detailed, virtual experience of building over 30 models from scratch. You "open" your chosen kit's box and a manual appears in the top right-hand corner of the screen with simplified tips on how to build it.
Sort of like those little picture books balled up inside Kinder Surprise eggs.
To assemble the model, you drag the highlighted pieces (the game tells you which bits of kit are needed when) from a scrolling menu on the left of the screen to the model's skeleton in the centre.
The model itself is exquisitely detailed, and with a simple pinch motion you are able to pan and zoom into minute detail. It's surprisingly soothing.
Finish the model and you can custom paint pretty much every piece, plus jazz it up with a snazzy range of stickers.
You can then place your car, T-Rex or Leonardo Da Vinci machine (yes, that is an option) in front of a variety of coloured backgrounds to capture it in a photo forever.
Digital vs analogue

IAPs explained
The game is free to download, but each model kit will cost between 67p and £6.10. Paint pallets cost 67p and sticker sets will set you back between 67p and £1.50.
Trouble is, that makes me kind of sad. The beauty of building a model isn't sticking a picture of the finished product on Facebook, but the physical process of creation.
It's the smell of the glue, how the fiddly bits make you poke your tongue out in concentration, the Hulk-smash roar when it all goes wrong.
Put that in digital form and you anaesthetise the whole experience. Now, you could argue this is a game for model making enthusiasts looking for quick fun, and I could run with that if it weren't for Monzo's price tag.
The game itself is free to download, and you get your first model for free (a snazzy blue sports car that acts as a sort of tutorial.) Unfortunately, you have to pay for each kit after that.
Prices start from 67p, and skyrocket up to over £6 for some of the cooler tanks.
It's worryingly easy for things to get expensive fast here, but annoyingly hard to not feel short-changed.
I bought a model of a T-Rex for £4 and built it in six minutes - it's just not worth it. Even if you do have the creative freedom to paint it neon yellow.

Endless Doves for iPhone and iPad

Endless Doves, Nitrome's ever-lasting follow-up to 8bit Doves, has just crashed onto the App Store. We expect it'll be hitting the Play Store sometime soon as well.
Once again you're controlling a sleeping man who's swooping through a gorgeously realised Gameboy-hued world. This time rather than getting from A to B though, you're trying to collect as many of the titular doves as possible.
It's painfully hard, but in the best possible way, and the simple two-button control scheme makes it easy to pick up, while still giving you the vague illusion of being in charge.
You can grab Endless Doves right now for nowt. It's ad-supported, but you can remove them with a £1.49 / $1.99 IAP.

Drift'n'Drive iPhone Review

Top-down racers feel right at home on iOS, and Drift'n'Drive is one that looks and feels absolutely fantastic. It's colorful, smooth, and full of plenty of reasons to give it a try. If you don't stay for the massive amount of cars you can have on-screen at one time, you certainly will for how well they handle.

The Good

Drift'n'Drive is a high-speed adventure with plenty of vehicles, career mode, time trial, and multiplayer for different ways to enjoy your racing and plenty of cars to do it with. Hop into the driver's seat of a car that automatically accelerates. You need only steer left and right and kick in the turbo boost at certain points to tear up the track, but that's all you have to worry about. You can also choose where you start in the race no matter where you place in the previous one so you've got an equal chance no matter what. And each time you head back in to best your previous time, you get a brand new, randomized track, meaning there's plenty of reason to come back and race again, even if you thought you conquered everything already.

The Bad

There's not much to dislike about this excellent yet simple racer, though the simplicity is indeed one thing that detractors may find they just can't deal with. The cars are generic little karts and there's barely any customization to be found - but it's simply not that type of game where those things are very necessary.

The Verdict

If you're looking for a pocket racer with nothing to worry about but going as fast as you can to rack up points and awesome times, Drift'n'Drive is an absolutely essential title. Pick it up for the quintessential bite-sized sports game, and you won't regret it.

Candy Crush Soda Saga Tips and Tricks

Candy Crush Soda Saga is the next iteration of the popular matching game from King, and it's probably already giving you fits. Never fear! We're here to help make sense of things with some helpful tips and tricks. You'll be floating away on a fizzy stream of soda in no time.

Get to know the candy bears and keep track of them. Candy Crush Soda Saga introduces candy bears, which you need to get to know intimately immediately. You need them to make combinations with which you can use to raise up the Soda Bar. When it's raised high enough, you'll save them and you'll be able to pass through to the next level. Make them a top priority when it comes to making matches in order to progress and you'll be sitting pretty instead of throwing money at the game to ensure you see the next area.
Be aware of important changes to the core game. With new sodas comes changes to familiar candies, such as the Fish candy, which only removes one candy now rather than what it used to be able to do. Keep that in mind when matching four candies to create one, and make sure you're not relying on older strategies to clear the board, and you'll be good to go!
When in doubt, go for the combo. If you ever have two special candies like stripes and rainbow together at once, go ahead and ignite them, since they can take out over half the board if you need a quick save. This can also help you get to places which are off the board or otherwise difficult to reach. Don't use combos willy-nilly, though - save them for when you really need them!
Hold off on buying or using additional power-up. It's possible to get past the first few dozens of levels without ever purchasing a power-up. But you'll have to be clever about it if you want to save some money, so make sure you try out all of the different strategies and pathways presented to you before
Restart levels that don't appeal to you. If you start a level that's lacking a cluster of similarly-colored candies or a setup that doesn't look conducive to victory, just close out the game without completing the level and go back into it. Since each level is random, this will work to your advantage. Eventually, you'll get a board where you can create some easy combo candies with minimal effort. Clear out candies on wrappers near the edges: Every so often, you'll find candies still on their wrappers.
Instead of just trying to clear the inner candies, which will fall into place as you clear out pieces from the bottom, focus your attention to the corners and bottom of the board. Clearing out the edges will summarily ensure you clear out the center, too!

Jet Car Stunts 2 for Android

Bronze Award-winning ridiculous racer Jet Car Stunts 2 has finally managed to pull of the necessary trick to land it on the Google Play Store, meaning Android players can finally get their hands on the super-tough twisty action.

The game plays a lot like a terrifying engine-powered platformer. You've got stunts to perform, and a track made of barely connected chunks of colour to perform them on. It's decidedly tough, and it'll take you a while to get the hang of things.
When we reviewed the iOS version we called it "not one for the faint of heart or slow of finger," adding that "Jet Car Stunts 2 takes a long time to master, but it's just about worth the effort."
If that sounds like something you fancy having a go at, you can grab Jet Car Stunts 2 from the Play Store right now. The first chunk of the game is free, and if you like what you see you can buy the rest as an IAP.

Review: Sweet Drmzzz

We've all been there. Lying in bed, anxious about waking up in time for an important event. Finally drifting off to sleep… only to have a tiny version of yourself emerge from your head, step into your alarm clock and launch into outer space to complete increasingly tricky challenges. Right?
No? Well, good thing I'm not alone, as Bart Bonte has gone and made a game simulating this bizarre condition in order to better educate us all. And what a game it is.
 Sweet Drmzzz Android, thumbnail 1
Sweet dreams are made of cheese
Merging and expanding upon some of Bonte's earlier browser-based releases, Sweet Drmzzz is a delightfully dippy game, balancing a wonderful simplistic elegance with some ingenious puzzles.
Each short level showcases one of several gameplay types, always taking place on a single screen, trusting the player to work out how to progress.
Some stages take the form of a Snake variant. Here, tapping the screen rotates a space worm 90 degrees as you try to collect stars, with later versions adding several space worms all controlled simultaneously.
Who am I to diss a brie
Other stages will be familiar to fans of Bonte's earlier game sugar, sugar, as slopes you draw on the screen redirect space dust towards small moons occupied by, you guessed it, more space worms.
Multiple revisits to this game type sees the introduction of upside down moons, requiring judicious use of a switch to reverse gravity.
Later you'll encounter coloured filters that the dust must pass through before redirection to the corresponding space worm's humble abode.
And while those two stage types are how you'll spend most of your time with Sweet Drmzzz, there are a few others which I won't spoil here, all controlled with simple, intuitive taps and occasional swipes.
I cheddar the world and the feta cheese
Where the game excels is in its welcoming nature. Initially working out how a puzzle is interacted with, let alone how it is completed, is a genuine joy.
Similarly, there's no pressure to succeed - no score system, no star ratings, no timer - and you're afforded infinite retries, which become essential as the space dust puzzles ramp up their challenge.
All in all it makes for a somewhat meditative experience, punctuated by gleeful silliness that's easy to like and even easier to recommend.
Everybody's looking for Stilton
Of course, Sweet Drmzzz won't be to everyone's taste.
If you're the sort to bang on about replayability being essential in games then you should know that there's little reason to return to Sweet Drmzzz after completion.
This isn't a sprawling, state-of-the-art epic. It has no narrative component to speak of, and its series of single-screen challenges could, at a push, be likened to a mini-game compendium.
But unless you're allergic to strong, simple game design, free of any unnecessary clutter, and all accompanied by an adaptive ongoing toe-tapping tune, you might just find yourself as the newest fan of Bart Bonte and his minimalist design ethos. I know I am.

Review: XCOM: Enemy Within

XCOM: Enemy Within is an expansion pack for XCOM: Enemy Unknown - not a sequel or a spin-off, despite arriving as a separate, full-price app.So it's still the same taut strategy game about fighting turn-based battles against aliens before returning to base to research new weapons, launch satellites, build labourites, and sort out the world's ET problem.
XCOM: Enemy Within Android, thumbnail 1
And it has the same story, same missions, same mechanics, same alien enemies, and same cutscenes we described in our 2013 review. There's just more of it, and more to it.
Meld down
Take Meld for example - a new resource that can be used to give your soldiers cybernetic implants like super pupils that improve your aim, chameleon-like skin that renders you invisible, and bionic legs that let you leap onto rooftops.
You can also use it to craft mechanised exosuits called MECs, which turn soldiers into walking tanks that can't take cover (but can provide it), and can fire flamethrowers and rail guns.
These new powers are introduced almost immediately and change battles radically. Plus, the way you uncover this stuff completely alters the way XCOM is typically played.
Illegal alien
As these precious few Meld canisters self destruct after a few turns, you must rush into battle to collect them in time. This forces you to mix up the old play style of slowly creeping from cover to cover, hammering on overwatch and clearing out buildings room by room.
You need to dash, use the assault class's run and gun ability, and throw caution to the wind. It's risky, but more fun and a nice change of pace compared to vanilla XCOM.
Enemy Within also adds new enemies. There's an invisible squid-like nightmare called the Seeker which slowly strangles a soldier to death unless someone else shoots it off, and human combatants who bring significantly different mission types to the campaign.
Aside from that, there are lots of little changes, including more maps for random battles and the asynchronous multiplayer, a second item slot for each soldier, and medals that give even more stat boosts to your favourite soldiers before they're cruelly snatched away by the jaws of permadeath.
Port forward
This iOS port is pretty similar to the last one, with the same low-resolution textures and flat lighting, despite interim advances in Android tech and iOS 8's Metal framework.
Then again, that only affects the rare up-close scenes and the game still looks quite stunning in the standard isometric view (flickering shadows not withstanding).
The controls seem better so it's easier to spin or zoom the camera on command, and while entering buildings or scampering up to a higher elevation is still a little fiddly it's less of a hassle.
This expansion annoyingly adds a new problem where sounds sometime come out super loud from one ear of your stereo headphones in an annoying, unnatural fashion - hopefully just a bug that's fixed in a patch.
Upgrade path
Enemy Within certainly makes XCOM feel fresh and exciting again, and the new additions will appeal to diehard fans of the original who want something different for their next ironman run
But as it's delivered as a separate app, rather than an in-app purchase for the original game, it's tricky to recommend to fans of the original game unless you absolutely adored it and crave more innovation, variety, and depth to the career. In which case, fill your boots.
But if you've never played an XCOM game before? This is an ideal entry point - it might be a little less accessible (and you can't turn off the complex new features like in F

Robot Unicorn Attack: Tips and Tricks

Robot Unicorn Attack 2 had been on the Google Play Store for quite some time now, and believe it or not I still play this game, not only is it easy to play, the game just looks absolutely beautiful. But while playing this game I have come across some tips and tricks that I would like to share, so please  read on
  1. Take the High Road-  from the time you first start to trot, go for the high road or do what you can to get on the highest boulder, not only does it look beautiful from the top, but you can collect a lot of unicorn tears there too.
  2. Dash, carefully- using the dash is a good way to clear obstacles and to help you reach those hard to reach places when your jump is short. But try not to use the dash randomly, because chances are you will end up crashing into a boulder.
  3. Spend Wisely - purchasing boosts will improve you overall performance, but keep in mind making purchases on boosts are expensive. Now you do have the option to make IAP’s but you can still enjoy playing the game without spending read money. But if you really want to spend some real money it is best to spend it on the songs as they are $0.99 each
  4. Hard Work pays off – there are other worlds to purchase, but if you are patient enough and work hard enough you make it to rank 15, then Ice World will be all yours, but if you are tempted you will have to spend a lot of unicorn tears (which is A LOT of money)
  5. Ask for help via Social Networks - if you are running low on unicorn tears, log on to your Facebook and/or Twitter account and ask for help, you will get free unicorn tears by posting your achievements.

Burly Men At Sea coming to iOS and Android in 2015

urly Men At Sea may give the initial impression of being rugged and tough, but it's far from.
Its colours are light and friendly, its graphics are curvy, and it's actually quite cute-looking.
It has to be, as this is the signature style of husband-and-wife team Brain&Brain. That's the team who previously gave us charming adventure gameDoggins.
This time around the dreams and space antics of Doggins have been dropped in favour of "a folktale about a trio of large bearded fellows on a fantastical adventure at sea."
Burly Men At Sea
You'll be playing as a storyteller and wayfinder for the Brothers Beard, pushing events forward with the fruits of your curiousity.
Burly Men At Sea will be coming to iOS, Android, and PC in 2015.
Let's hope that it contains the same wondrous feel of Doggins, but perhaps lasts a little longer. Our main criticism of Doggins in our review was that it was short, you see.

Zombie Catchers iPhone Review

Zombie games share a nearly universal concept: the living dead now inhabit the earth, so you must run away and kill them before they kill you. Zombie Catchers puts a new spin on zombies by having you chase and hunt them for a change, which is an interesting premise, but does the game deliver?

The Good

So what happens when an alien and a robot team up? They go catch zombies and make them into delicious food, of course! In Zombie Catchers, you've started a new business that's becoming quite popular and you need to go and get more and more zombies to turn them into drinks to feed to your hungry customers. The concept is very unique and the gameplay is very addicting. You go into the swamps and lure the zombies out by placing brains on the ground. Once the zombies come out of the swamps you need to rely on your harpoon gun, nets, tranquilizers, and more to try to catch the zombies. You need to be fast though because unlike most zombies, they will run away from you as fast as they can. There are many different kinds of zombies that will unlock as you level up in the game and different zombies make different kinds of food and drinks. Every time you catch a certain amount of zombies you put them into the zombie mashers to make the food. Everything in the game can be upgraded; your weapons, the zombie mashers, and your character can all be modified to help make the game easier and give you an edge and more money. They can be upgraded and purchased using the money you get from selling the food.

The Bad

Zombie Catchers forces you to wait constantly, which is frustrating beyond belief. After each zombie hunt, you have to wait for your zombie tracker to find more zombies, unless you use plutonium to speed up the process or watch a video. You need to wait, set times for each of your tasty treats to be made so you can receive your gold. There is also the wait times for your secondary weapons to reload. All the waiting that you have to do really cuts into your playtime and hampers the experience. Plutonium is fairly easy to come by because you receive a bar after capturing a certain amount of zombies, but it runs out pretty fast because of all the times you need to use it. Plutonium as well as gold can also be bought using real world money if you are desperate.

The Verdict

Zombie Catchers is a fun and unique title. It's very creative in its approach to the genre, and it's a blast to play. The amount of waiting you have to do to play gets really annoying and the game constantly makes you take breaks because of the wait times.

Metal Skies iPhone Review

The term "dogfight" describes in-air combat between two fighter planes. The X-Wing and Tie Fighter battles in Star Wars helped popularize dogfights, but it was during World War II that the in-air skirmishes became prevalent. Take to the skies and become the king of the air with Metal Skies, where dogfighting is especially prevalent.

The Good

Metal Skies takes you back to the time of World War II, where you're a fighter pilot that has been recruited to be apart of Tiger Squad and your mission is to take out the evil Shadow Jaegers. The game is a dogfight simulator and you are outfitted with guns and missiles to take out the enemy. You can upgrade and customize your plane with coins that you get from defeating enemy planes. There are a lot of customization options so you can make your plane how you'd like it. There are two modes of play. There is a campaign mode and a multiplayer mode. The campaign has a lot of missions and tells the story of your characters rise through Tiger Squad. The multiplayer mode allows you to battle against other players in versus dogfights.

The Bad

Metal Skies use an energy system that has to reload after a certain number of plays. It takes a few minutes to reload all of your stamina, unless you are willing to pay for it. This is a cheap way to space out the game, but the game still gets fairly repetitive pretty fast. The dodging mechanism is fairly random and it doesn't take much skill to hold your finger on the screen to shoot.

The Verdict

Metal Skies is a fun shooter that simulates aerial dogfights. The game has a good concept, but doesn't offer enough to keep it from being repetitive after a short while.

The Journey of Alvin for iOS and Android

The Journey of Alvin is so pleasant that I had to share it despite it not being usual Pocket Gamer fare. It's an interactive narrative journey based on true events, ones that supposedly influenced film director David Lynch (Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks).
You follow Alvin on his old mower, which he uses to travel 400 miles to go see his brother. Everything you see and do is based upon what Alvin comes across on this journey.
Interaction is very light, and the studio behind it have said that its intended more as an interactive move than a game. So don't expect any great challenge here.
Instead, your interactions are more playful. You pull down a wire that birds are sat on to fling them in the air. You paint a rainbow and parts of the landscape. You also shake your tablet or phone to cause leaves to fall from trees.
We could get into the "what is a game?" spiel here, but fellow PG newser Harry has already done that with an opinion piece on A Sailor's Dream.
And, actually, The Journey of Alvin bears some similarities with A Sailor's Dream. They're both narrative-driven interactive journeys, at least.
Anyway, I'd suggest taking a look at The Journey of Alvin if you want to give a child something to have fun with. You may just as likely enjoy its relaxing tone as an adult.
You can purchase it for £1.99 / $2.99 on the App Store, Google Play , and Amazon App Store .
