Now I am into superheroes whether if its from Marvel or DC Comics. I have bought my first comic book when I was 7, I have seen the movies (yes even that straight- to-video ,Fantastic Four from 1994), and I have even collected the toys, then I came to a conclusion that I could never have super-powers and be a super hero., but it was always fun dressing up as one during Halloween.
Marvel: Avengers Alliance is the latest roleplaying game on Facebook from Playdom. And this game puts the player in the role a young and upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. S.H.I.E.L.D. is the Marvel universe’s covert operations agency, that is staffed by humans, but are often teaming up in the affairs of the superhuman community.
After going through a short training mission, your character (male or female) is sent off into the field, to help of superheroes such as Iron Man, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. They begin their investigation into a mysterious new substance known as ISO-8 that is giving even the most basic thugs the strength they need to go toe-to-toe with the likes of The Avengers. And just like that, you’ve made the superhero friends.
Now for those who have played classic turn-based role playing games, Marvel: Avengers Alliance is nod to those classic games. And if you have ever played a classic Final Fantasy title, then you’ll know exactly what you can expect in terms of gameplay. You will have a party of three members on your team, and each member and enemy on the field will take turns performing single actions. Actions consume stamina, and range from offensive attacks and defensive buffs to item uses, stamina recharges, and more. It’s a simple enough system to understand, but underneath these basic mechanics is a level of strategy not commonly seen in Facebook games.Marvel_1
There are two important elements to consider when deciding on which moves to make. Both heroes and enemies can and will be affected by a wide variety of attacks, and by knowing how to make these work can be beneficial to you, your team, and for mastering the game. Now take for instance you will be facing some HYDRA soldiers early on, that have fuel tanks on their backs. And as such they enter a fight with the condition “flammable.” A shot from Iron Man’s repulsor rays can cause “ignite” to happen, dealing extra damage and resulting in the new condition “burning.” This is good, because burning will cause additional damage turn after turn.
Another neat feature that Marvel: Avengers Alliance has to offer is, there are five different classes. Each character will be strong against one type and weak with another. Try and think of Pokémon or rock, paper, scissors. When you do have the upper hand, you will be able to benefit from a specific perk. Now take for instance with the Tactician class, it will give you an immediate second turn after attacking with a Blaster type attack. And an Infiltrator can counter-attack when ever they are being attacked by an Tactician. But once you get a hang of, and get to know the five different classes a bit better, it can and will lead to some very interesting situations.
Players will be able to unlock new and useful items and equipment through research, send certain heroes on solo missions to earn money and experience, and even take on the superhero teams of others in a bot-controlled asynchronous PvP mode.
Your S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and as well as your superheroes, can both be highly customizable by equipping them with different weapons and suits. In other words you can pretty much turn your character into any one of the five classes, that you want them to be.
The game also offers a huge selection of superheroes from the Marvel Universe, Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Mr.Fantastic just to name a few, for you to choose from. And of course each of them belonging to one of the five classes. Some superheroes will join you as you and the story progresses, while other need to be purchased by the use of ‘command points’. Now you might have noticed that I have talked a lot about the combat of this game, and you might think that is all there is to this game. But the game does offer a single-player narrative, great artwork, responsive controls, a multiple currency system, and well I could keep on going, but to sum it all up, Marvel: Avengers Alliance is a game that offers a lot of substance and great depth, it is overall a great game to have and play on your Android device. With this game being free at the Google Play Store it is an absolute must-play.
