Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame Review

The long wait is over, and the Prince is back in an all new adventure. Our good folks at Ubisoft delivered the goods in developing Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame or POP: SoF for short.
Now for those of you that are new to the series Prince of Persia was first released in 1989 on the Apple II.  The game has influenced the sub-genre known as “cinematic platformer”. It had interspersing intelligent puzzles and deadly traps and fighting enemies here and there doing all this, to save the princess. The Prince has also has his fair share of being on consoles, first being on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and now the Prince is back on the Android.

The story takes place after the events of the first Prince of Persia (1989). The Prince must now set on a new adventure that will set him to search his past to ensure his future. You will have to run through 14 levels, and have to climb up and down buildings, fight off any baddies that stand in your way. The entire classic sword-fighting and intelligent puzzle solving that you loved in the original game is all here.
You’ll notice that the game’s visuals are beautifully stunning, the graphics are gorgeous, and the game sounds amazing. And most of all it has the classic Prince of Persia feel to it.
Controlling the Prince is smooth as butter. He literally moves like water. You have to modes of controls to choose from, you have the “gesture” mode that allows you to swipe the left side of the screen to move left and right, and to climb, and on the right side you have the action screen that will able you to jump, attack , and defend. With the “joystick” mode you have a joystick (D-pad) icon on left screen, and you have the action buttons on the right. Whichever you choose both control modes work well.
Having this been a sequel to the original game you’d wish that there were more extra to unlock but sad to say there isn’t much. There are a few swords, potions, and combos to buy, but when I say a few believe me it’s a few. You also get pack bundles, that will have health potions and revive potions, or they will have both potions along with a combo. There are also achievements for you to try and achieve. You can also share scores with you Facebook friends if you decide to log in.
POP: SoF had all the great elements from the first game, and along with upgraded visuals and sounds makes this game a hit with fans of the series. Even if you’re not a fan and want to try a great platformer POP: SoF deserves a chance to be played.  This game is available at the google play store for $2.99. Happy gaming gamers
