Monsters U: Catch Archie Review

Ah summer, the season to soak up some sun and enjoy the weather. It is also a great time to watch blockbuster movies and play new video games. Monsters U Catch Archie is tied to the blockbuster movie Monsters U.
Despicable Me: Minion Rush and Brave have caught on to the “Temple Run” formula, being an endless runner game. But Monsters U: Catch Archie isn’t your average endless runner. It has a bit of a twist, which I’ll explain later.

The controls are the same as your basic endless runner, swipe to jump, dodge, and slide through obstacles. Players are in control of Mike, you’ll run through the level trying to catch Archie: The scare pig. When you do catch up to the pig, Mike has to tame Archie through a touch-based mini game, and if successful you finish the level. Now for the twist, you have to do all this within the time limit. It’s like Temple Run with a pinch of Super Mario Bros.
It’s nice that some boosts will be unlocked once you level up, I did enjoy the new camera angle which did offer something new and as well as having a time limit. But it is a shame that Monsters U: Catch Archie didn’t offer more extras that would have separated itself from other endless runners. It is still a solid and fun game to play though. If you want to give it a try pick it up on Google play and download it. It’s free
