While Summer might be winding down, GSN Games is keeping the relaxed mood of the season alive with the official launch of Solitaire TriPeaks by GSN Games on iOS and Android devices. Solitaire TriPeaks takes players to the beach, where they'll follow a guide named Tiki, and his dog Poi, through level-based card gameplay on a hunt for stars.
In each level of Solitaire TriPeaks, players are presented with an assortment of random cards, and are asked to remove them before running out of cards in their own deck. One active card is present at all times, and players tap on cards one number higher or lower than this active card to remove them from the screen. This "pyramid" style of solitaire has been found in other popular mobile games, including Big Fish Games' Fairway Solitaire Blast and King's Pyramid Solitaire Saga.
If players run out of cards in their draw pile before removing all of the cards from the formation at the top of the screen, they can pay coins for bonus cards, or start over from scratch. There's no lives system in the game; instead, gamers pay virtual coins to access levels, so they can continue playing as long as they'd like, so long as they have the coins. It should be noted that free coins are received during levels, at the end of each completed level, and are awarded at the main menu at timed intervals. Users also receive up to three stars on each stage, depending on their performance.
While playing, gamers might make a mistake, and draw a new card when they still had available moves. Users can pay coins to undo this mistake and keep their streak going. Wild cards are also available, and can be used to remove any card from the table, regardless of value.
Before each stage, players can purchase power-ups for that level. One may flip over all of the face-down cards in a formation, so players can more strategically plan their combos and moves. Another increases a combo multiplier, while a third removes all "trap" cards from the board. These trap cards have some sort of obstacle preventing their removal from the screen, and make things more challenging for players. For instance, a card covered in a net must be tapped on twice before it's ultimately removed from the board. Each level may provide different power-ups for purchase.
"At GSN Games, we recognize innovation and creativity among our core values, and Solitaire TriPeaks absolutely brings these values to life," said Jeff Karp, executive vice president of mobile and social games at GSN Games, in a company statement.
