Darklings Cheats And Tips

Easily one of the more original games on the App Store, Darklings from MildMania is a tricky yet enjoyable adventure. You play an unlikely hero named Lum as he captures demon souls by having you draw patterns that appear over his enemies. You'll need to be quick, because if they touch him, it's game over.
Learn how to kill bad guys and use power-ups with these Darklings tips.

What's the best way to defeat enemies in Darklings?

Enemies will usually come at you in groups, so it's best to capture those near you first. Pay close attention to their patterns and draw them quickly - you don't need to be entirely accurate, but close enough that they resemble their diagrams - and then the others will be pushed back a bit. Continue drawing the configurations as quickly as you can, and you'll be able to build combos, which will result in earning more stars.

How do I capture stars in Darklings?

Stars appear after you defeat enemies and float upwards towards the sky. In order to capture them, you must quickly draw them back down to Lum for absorption. Be quick about it, though, because enemies will approach from all sides. In fact, enemies should take importance first, and then stars.

How do I defeat bosses in Darklings?

These battles are put into two segments. The first is when bosses throw projectiles and enemies at you that must be defeated by drawing their shapes. Sometimes they'll come at you rapid fire, so be quick.
The second segment involves Lum fighting back by drawing configurations in the right order. Doing so will unleash a huge beam of light that, done correctly three times, will defeat the enemy once and for all.

How do boosts work in Darklings?

Boosts can be earned at random over the course of a match, including Blast, which destroys everything in a nearby radius; Magnet, which draws stars closer to Lum; Shield, which generates a huge shield surrounding our hero; Energize, which boosts drawing capability against enemies; and Freeze, which causes the ground to freeze near Lum to capture foes. These can be powered up in the Dark Shop for better effect, starting at 250 Stars and rising from there for each particular level.

How do upgrades work in Darklings?

There are several you can earn and multiply, including the following.
Starry lets your character earn bigger stars, thus racking up higher totals for more stuff to buy.
Combo machine increases the number of stars that you can collect with each turn.
Extra Time gives you a better chance at surviving an enemy encounter, compared to just running into them as you are.
Finally, Double the Stars multiplies your star pick-ups by two.

How can I unlock costumes in Darklings?

You'll start with your basic Lum costume, but you can buy others, including Eros (2,500 stars), Eskimo (2,500 stars), Iceberg (3,500 stars), Magician (3,500 stars), Cactus (5,000 stars), Masked (5,000 stars), Viking (5,000 stars), Wizard (7,500 stars), Monk (7,500 stars), Undead (10,000 stars), Santa (11,250 stars), Be Juicy (12,500 stars), Crow (12,500 stars), Bat (20,000 stars), Spidey (20,000 stars) and our personal favorite, Vader (20,000 stars).
These are cosmetic at best, though, so save these purchases for last, and go after power-ups first.

How can I unlock companions in Darklings?

There are several allies that can help you over the course of the game.
The cheapest of the three is the Fairy Lilly, who can blow up enemies with one blast a turn. It costs 7,000 stars.
The other two, going for 20,000 apiece, are the Starhunter, which collects stars for you for a limited time, and the Grim Reaper, who attacks enemies every three seconds.

Do I have to pay for anything in Darklings?

Not really. Each round earns you a good amount of stars, and you can play without paying additional fees.
Still, if you do need to buy something, you can pay for additional stars, ranging from 10,000 for $0.99 to five million for $69.99. In addition, free stars can be unlocked just by signing into Twitter and Facebook (250 stars apiece).
