X Fighter Review

I love old classic arcade games, such games as Gradius, Space Invaders, 1942, Star Wars, and yes even Raiden hold a special place in my gaming heart since I've played them years ago, and believe it or not I still play them from time to time. And when I was on the Google Play Store I came upon a game title X Fighter. Now at first I thought that it would be some kind of cheap rip off from Gradius or even 1945, but I downloaded it anyway, and much to my dismay, it was an actually pretty decent game to play, and even as I do this review for it, I am still playing it. So what make X Fighter an addicting game to play? Please read on fellow gamers.
Now if you enjoy playing games such as 1942, Gradius, or Raiden, then you will feel right at home with X Fighter. When you first play the game you will notice that it plays just like 1942 as it is a vertical scrolling shooter, and your plane looks like the plane that Tom Cruise was in, for the movie Top Gun ( I love that movie by the way), and your plane also has weapons that looks like they were seen from R-Type or Gradius. And when you add all these elements together nicely, you have got a nice air shooting game to play on your Android device.
There is no plot in this game, just one objective, and your objective in the game are simple, shoot down the enemy, until you reach the end of the level, and don't die. (okay that's two) When you reach the end of three stages, you will encounter a boss, and of course the boss it just one big air craft, that shoot multiple missiles, and other projectiles at you plane, so shoot and dodge, and hope that the boss will go down before you do.

The controls are simple enough to learn, just use you finger to navigate your plane, and as you keep you finger on your plane it will automatically shoot for you, and when you double tap on you plane it will bring up a small menu of already purchased weapons. Now the type of weapons that you first start off with is your basic single shot, but as you play through the levels you will slowly earn yourself coins, that you can use to by different weapons, such as spread, and laser cannon, and you can also buy nuke bombs, that will eliminate everything enemy on the screen, and you can also buy the invincibility icon, now these are just a few weapons for you to buy and try.
Now my only two problems I have with X Fighter is this, there are not much features such as buying different planes, and with each different plane, there could be different weapons to purchase, this could have given the game a great replay value, and the other problem I have is this, at the end of a stage you will have the option to play on the next level, upgrade, or main menu, and when you choose upgrade, and you take for instance upgrade your laser cannon, you are thinking that your laser cannon is bigger and stronger, when you play onto the next level right? That is not the case as all, when you upgrade a weapon, all it means is that you are giving your weapon an extra life, because if an enemy hits you, you lose a life for that weapon, and if you lose all your five lives for that weapon, it will automatically switch over the single shot.
Overall X Fighter is a fun, game, that has all the element from great classic arcades, despite the minor issues the game has it is still a great game to have on your Android device. If you are looking for a way to kill time download X Fighter.
