Archangel Review

The forces of evil are mobilizing in defiance of heavenly rule. As an Archangel your task is not merely to halt their rise – you must inflict a justice so brutal and uncompromising that none will ever again defy the will of Heaven. Black Tower Studios and Unity Games conjure visceral action tailored for touch in this epic clash between good and evil.

Archangel is a RPG, Action and Adventure game released for Android not too long ago by Unity Games. Unity, known for their powerful engine which can be used on a lot of platforms take their turn on the "Diablo" type of game. Even though it looks like a "Diablo" copy, it is surely not.

We play as an archangel who takes on a role of an Old Testament. Our goal is to punish those who has offended the heavens. During the game, we meet powerful demons and fallen angels who are our enemies. Although the story isn't the strongest part in the game, it is a good part of the game.

The game features around 30 levels of intense fighting where none feel repetitive so far. A very interesting feature is the control system. It uses a gesture & touch based control system designed to give "unparalleled control". The thing is, there is only one button on the screen, and that is for pausing the game. Everything else is accomplished by tapping or drawing patterns on the screen. This is just awesome with the no mana/no long cool down periods for your magic powers. The mix of these two, make it indeed a good game.

Even with all the weapons that your character is outfitted with, you will most likely end up using your magic. Heavy armor, swords, axes and other types of melee weapons are just a mere fraction off all the items in the game.
The graphics in the game are the reason why this game is so great. Unity delivers a powerful, yet a stable engine that unfortunately works on just a few devices. Sometimes, the graphics are even too good and result in a glitch or a major lag. There is a good amount of details here and there, even for an android game. It isn't really anything too impressive but it's better than 99% of what you will find on Play Story anyways.
Archangel can be bought for $1.99.
