GamesBeat reported that Dave Roberts, the CEO of the developer behind such series as Bejeweled and Plants vs. Zombies, will retire this year. This move is expected to happen as soon as January 8th. John Vechey, co-founder of the studio, is expected to take over upon Roberts' departure.
In addition, Jason Kapalka, another co-founder for the development team, will leave around the same time, but will continue to serve on the team as a consultant.
Vechey spoke on the changes, stating, "PopCap's mission right now is to create the greatest mobile game studio in the world, and we're going to do that by only making games that are beloved by players."
The company's most current mobile release, Plants vs. Zombies 2, continues to be quite popular on iOS and Android. PopCap currently doesn't have any newly announced mobile titles in the works, but is almost finished with development on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 exclusive multiplayer shooter, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.
