Jet Car Stunts 2 iPhone Review

It's been four years since the release of the original Jet Car Stunts, a game that combined the frills of an arcade racer with the uniqueness of a stunt platforming game. The developers at True Axis have kicked off the new year with a sequel that offers 120 new levels of high-flying excitement, complete with all the driving, flying and precarious stunts you'd expect from playing the original.

The Good
It's great to see the series back in action. The gameplay feels terrific, forcing you to boost, accelerate and steer like a pro in order to earn those precious gold medals. The graphics look splendid too, with plenty of 3D courses and slick car models - all packed into a minimal 37 MB of space. Finally, the freemium system is quite fair, offering quite a bit of gameplay before you'll feel the need to plunk down cash for new levels.
The Bad
Jet Car Stunts 2 isn't a game for those with weaker gaming skills. In fact, this is one of the toughest racing games you'll ever come across. Even the easy levels can force restarts, as you'll often narrowly miss a platform or a checkpoint, or crack your car up unexpectedly on a wall. It's part of the nature of the beast, but you've been warned - this is a tough nut to crack. It would also have been nice to have a little more in-game music, to match the imagination lavished on the environments.
The Verdict
Because of its high difficulty bar, Jet Car Stunts 2 certainly isn't for everyone. If you're a racing fan up for a real challenge though - or you don't mind spending a few hours perfecting runs on the trickiest levels - this one's well worth taking for a spin.
