One of the goriest, sickest and most fun racing games of all times –
Carmageddon – has been brought back to life and sent over to smartphones
worldwide after a successful Kickstarter campaign and now it’s time to
check it out
and see if it’s worth playing. With a buy price of just $1.99 (as
opposed to $3.99 on iOS), Carmageddon for Android already has an
advantage, but let’s just see if it lasts!
I won’t by like other people and assume that you automatically know
what Carmageddon is about. Indeed, it’s a bit of gaming history, but I
don’t know my world history too well, so nobody can blame you if you
haven’t heard of Carmageddon before. However, you should be glad that
you heard about it now, as it’s a game where driving and destroying
everything in sight go well hand in hand, and your actual goal in the
race is to
destroy all your opponents’ cars, all the living souls
in the game or, if you are really lame, to finish the race first.

Carmageddon
for Android has not been reinvented, which is both a good and a bad
thing. The good thing is that it features everything that we have seen
in the original version, from whacky stunts and crashes to
gallons of blood filling up our devices’ screens.
The bad thing about Carmageddon is the physics engine which seems to
be the one of the original game as well, which means outdated
and pretty
strange in today’s world. The car acts a bit strange and you will have,
at times, problems because of this, but fortunately Carmageddon is not a
game where finesse is the most important thing, so you will be able to
get past this little problem and enjoy the game.

And we’re talking about a game that comes with some improved graphics, a ton of content waiting to be unlocked, from
new cars to
car parts
and tracks and, most important, with a ton of fun to be had while
playing it. It is indeed a bit intense and demanding in terms of battery
life, but it also looks and feels
pretty good, so we have no complaints here.
The controls of Carmageddon are also surprisingly well implemented
and responsive, which makes is even sadder that the physics engine is
outdated. But at least you’ll get the chance to see how we were expected
to drive back in the 90s…

All
in all, I am glad that this game’s developers came up with the idea of
crowdfunding it, as it is a game for both the young generation to play
and the older guys like myself
to feel the nostalgic warmth and
serenity
of smashing civilians and cows with 5 ton vehicles. Carmageddon for
Android is fun and intense, it’s good looking and at the same time
giving you that cool retro vibe and, most important, it’s very cheap.
