Asphalt 8: Airborne is available for iOS and Android. Gameloft's latest racer not only has a lot to offer from the single player campaign, but also through multiplayer, whether you're challenging someone locally over Wi-Fi, or hopping into the World Series of Racing to see what the competition has to offer.
 To help get you accustomed to competing against others, we put together some helpful tips that should get you closer to the finish line. Good luck! Asphalt 8's multiplayer was built on basic principles. You won't find a plethora of options to run through. You race against seven drivers through random match-ups. The first, and most generally picked mode, is Classic. Here, you compete in a two-lap race. The second mode is Elimination. In this mode, you race continuously, as the driver in last place gets eliminated. Eventually, it'll come down to two players, and the one in the lead wins.  Next up is Infected. This is a rather unique game of tag, in which one player is generally it, but has to run into another car within 20 seconds. If they fail to do so, they're eliminated from the race, and the next-placed driver becomes infected. It goes on like this until one driver remains in the lead. Finally, there's Gate Drift. With this, you drift through multiple gates, racking up as many points as possible against the opposition. If you miss some gates, that'll give others the opportunity to catch up - so make sure you keep an eye out for them and prepare ahead of time, even if it means drifting. -Starting online races can take a while. Eight competitors are randomly picked for each race, and sometimes their connections won't be as good as yours. While you're waiting, take the time to see what the final track and race type selections are, and prepare yourself accordingly. If time permits, check out our cheats and tips for the racing venues.  -If you get the opportunity, check out the competition. You'll see the overall rank on your driver profile, so glance at the others and see how they fare. The higher ranked they are, the better they know their way around the game - and the more likely they are to find boost opportunities. -Once the race begins, it's easy to keep track of your opponents. Not only are they highlighted on the course using bright green circles, but their name profiles also appear over their cars. If you need to, use some of the shortcuts to get ahead of them. -The higher a score an opponent has, the more likely they are to be aggressive during a race. This means ramming into you to gain the lead, and in some situations, wrecking your vehicle. Gameloft balanced the takedown feature in this mode, so you aren't automatically destroyed when touched by a boosting vehicle. However, you can still wreck by going into the wall or traveling too far off the track. Play aggressive, and don't be afraid to get a little dirty. -When it comes to Infected and Elimination, the goal is to stay in the front as much as possible. That way, you avoid collisions from behind most of the time. Keep some boost handy, and if you see a car closing in on you, use it quickly to stay out of reach.  -After the race, you have the option to watch it unfold. It's a good idea to study other drivers and note their behavior. -Once you finish a race, stick around to see what rewards you reap. If you place in the first, second or third position, you'll score some in-game currency you can use to upgrade cars or buy new ones. You'll also earn rewards for performing stunts in the game, such as executing perfect boosts and getting a lot of airtime. Don't be afraid to pull off stunts, even if you fall behind. This also lets you earn some boost. -Finally, along with online multiplayer racing, you can set up local races via Wi-Fi with friends that have the game. Wi-Fi races are easier to set up, as you create or join a hosted room, get together with friends, choose the event and track you want. It's a more direct way to race with people you know, rather than cycling through random selections in the World Series of Racing mode.  | |||
