Crescent Moon Games have dropped two great games this year one is Redline Rush(look for the full review on the site) and the second is Gear Jack. Auto-run games are more common in mobile game, and this is what this game is an auto-run game. Sure it looks cute and fun, but please don't let the looks fool you. Now I've had a lot of fun playing Redline Rush it was an endless-racer game, I wish I could say the same for Gear Jack. Before I get into details about this game, let me tell you what the story is about. The game Gear Jack follow the story of the star ship W.Hale. This star ship is the first automated ship that was ever created by humans. It is a true masterpiece of engineering built by humans. As the ship floats through space…..the robotic ship get nailed by an electromagnetic shockwave, and to make matters worse the ship is now drifting towards a black hole. With the last remaining robot on the ship, you must save the ship from going into the black hole. This last remaining robot's name is Jack. Jack is a cute, special robot with cool unique powers to help him get the through the world of Gear Jack. Now this being a auto-runner, you get to control Jack, you will be able to jump and roll as you avoid many traps and obstacles found throughout the game. Some things such as big gears falling from the celling can be destroyed just by simply tapping on them. Or if things get to sticky for you, you can use the slow-mo. feature just by pressing the clock icon found at the top of the right screen. Another cool feature that Gear Jack offers is you'll jump through markers with an 'up' or 'down' symbol on them, you'll need to tap the corresponding button at the right time to perform a special move that will see you safely across an otherwise impassable gap. Sure playing the game may sound simple, but in order to jump over obstacles and gaps, you have to make the mark with your jumps, and the same goes with trick markers regularly go unregistered, leaving you plummeting to an untimely death. Traps sneak up, leaps need to be pixel-perfect, and any failure warps you straight back to the start of the level, even if you're just a step from the end. This part of the game tends to get frustrating, its a real shame too. I mean this is 2013 why do we still have to make the mark with jumps? There are 30 levels of leaping over spinning cogs and rolling through gaps. But I doubt that you would want to play through all of them due to the toughness of this game. And there are stars to collect for the perfect 3 star rating. And if you do get 3-stars in one run, you will have the ability to upgrade Jack. The game does offer skills and upgrades, such as changing Jack's appearance. Gear Jack is a difficult platform and if you are the kind of player that gets frustrated quickly or doesn't like difficult games, this game may not be for you. But if you do decide to purchase this game be prepared go through rage quits here and there. I've died well over 100 times yet I keep coming back for more, I guess I'm always looking for a challenge. Gear Jack is available at the Google play store for $1.09 | |||
