Australian game developer Flat Earth Games has announced the upcoming launch of its Towncraft building game on iPhone and Mac devices. The game was originally released on iPad in September 2013, but this existing version will be updated to match the new version of the game coming to iPhone and Mac. Included in this update are 44 new quests, 30 new resources, new building types, new structures and more.
Towncraft is comparable to the popular sandbox building game Minecraft, in that players start with very little, but can use tools to create larger and better things over time. The game's procedurally generated maps ensure no two worlds will be the same, but the overall goal is similar in each game: to create the best town possible after starting alone in the medieval wilderness.
As players build a kingdom, villagers from other lands will visit, buying items at local shops (among other actions), while gamers can use their own peasants to manage gold mines, stone quarries, farmlands, lakes, shops and taverns. The game offers a real-time day and night cycle, which sees workers sleeping at night and working during the day (or even hitting the tavern for a drink after work).

The more structures players create, including windmills and bridges, the stronger and more self-sufficient the town becomes. While the town is growing and expanding, players can head back out into the wilderness to discover new resources, from cotton and wheat to canary eggs and grapes, among many others.
"We are excited and delighted to bring the TownCraft experience to the iPhone and Mac players," said Leigh Harris, Lead Designer. "Players around the world have provided superb feedback, letting us know they genuinely appreciate the Zen-like approach to game design, huge amount of content we've been adding and the lack of in-app purchases. We believe players will love the expansive world and the depth of gameplay in our new version of TownCraft."
Towncraft is available on iPad for $4.99, and will launch on iPhone and Mac this Spring.
