Developer Master Cold Rice has one of the weirdest names I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, but that should not stop you from checking out the video of their latest game, Interstellaria. It is an open-world space exploration game that looks and plays like FTL. In addition to traveling between planets, players also have to manage crew members, and building and upgrading your ship. To make things interesting, you can explore planets on foot after you land and discover some pretty strange stuff. According to the developers, each planet provides a different type of challenge to the next. Beating the planet's main challenges unlocks some very useful materials and upgrades that will help when you travel to more dangerous territories around the galaxy. Interstellaria not only allows you to manage crew members' tasks and duties, it actually plays like the Sims too. Each of them has to sleep, eat, drink and be entertained. They also gain ranks in whichever tasks you assign them to, so one person might rise in the engineering department to Chief Engineer, only to die in battle and leave you with a noob to take over the duties. I have no idea when this or FTL will appear in the Google Play Store, but if space exploration is your thing, then this might just whet your appetite. Interstellaria is being developed for Android, Windows, Linus, OSX and the iPad, and cross-platform play will of course be available. ![]() | |||
