Chillingo's new game The Impossible Line
will drive you crazy after a while. The challenge? Steer a chalk line
around a maze that turns invisible after a brief reveal. Throw moving
obstacles into the mix, and you've soon got a real challenge on your
hands. Here are some hints and tips to help you get through even the
trickiest levels.
- There are two different kinds of power-ups you can make use of in
The Impossible Line - the miner's hat and the reveal. Generally
speaking, you will get more use out of the miner's hat, as long as you
take things very slowly and listen out for the proximity buzzer. Reveals
should only be used in the most complex levels that are found towards
the end of the game.
- There may not be a time limit in The Impossible Line, but we had
much more success by moving the chalk in one continuous line, while the
memory of the layout was fresh. If you stop, you increase the chances
that you'll forget how the maze is laid out, and you'll more often than
not have to pay for a reveal to get going again.
- Listen out for the proximity beeper at all times. This noise
indicates that you are getting too close to a wall for comfort, and the
more rapid the beeping noise becomes, the closer you're getting to
failing the level! You can also use this circular meter as a visual
aide. As the circle gets smaller, you're getting closer to a wall. By
carefully steering around the screen, you can solve some complex levels
with ease.
- Keep an eye out for any parallel lines at play in the map you're
working on. If you know that there are parallel lines right next to each
other, then you can use your existing chalk line as a guide for the
next line you have to draw. Just make sure the lengths and widths of the
obstacles are the same, and keep listening out for that proximity
beeper.
