The publisher announced that the latest in the series, Dragon Quest 10, will come to mobile devices this winter in Japan, through a partnership with Ubitus. The game will be available through its GameCloud service, using streaming to bring the epic role-playing action to life.
Dragon Quest 10 features a massively multiplayer online focus, and will allow players to either use a touchscreen system or optional Bluetooth joystick to control their characters.
"We expect a dramatically wider range of fans to become accessible to the world of Dragon Quest 10 through the partnership with Ubitus," said Square Enix senior vice president Tomoyoshi Osaki.
"Ubitus is thrilled to join force with Square Enix to bring their cutting edge games like Dragon Quest 10 to the consumers through Cloud gaming services," added Ubitus CEO Wesley Kuo. "Users can now share the MMORPG account information between cloud gaming version and other device versions. Both new user and existing user can enjoy the world's first multi-device play across mobile, game console, and PC."
There's no word yet if the game will be released in the U.S., but considering Square's increased interest in mobile games of late, we wouldn't be surprised to see it come out here.
