Zombie HQ review

Zombie HQ does not play like past zombie games that I have reviewed. No this one is a bit different, you actually move around an area and shoot zombies, much like a way monster shooter plays except you are shooting down zombies. The game follows a lone survivor (whomever you choose “him” or “her”) running away trying to survive the zombie infested city. You finally escape and you manage to climb you way on a roof top, where you see a working radio and you only way to make contact with other survivors is through that radio. Each of the survivors will send you on different missions throughout the game, in hopes that you can saved each and every one of them so that they can join you.
Zombie HQ is a third-person shooter that has an over-view look of a different part of the city, where there are zombies coming at you from everywhere. The game has different types of missions such as; rescuing other survivors, other missions where you need to scavenge from items, and some offer a search and destroy mission where you have to kill all zombies in an area. But if you get tired of doing those types of missions you can do Boss fights where you have to shoot down minions before getting to the showdown with the boss. And of course you will also get sweet rewards (such as money and XP to level you character up) for successfully completing all those missions.

The graphics could have been better, a whole lot better. Come on Rebellion its 2013 not 2005. The sound effects of bullets hitting zombies, and the sound of hammering when you are trying to repair a barricade sound great and what is a zombie game without good music, not to worry the game’s music is great too. The controls of the game are really quite simple, fluid, and smooth, standard for an Android shooter. You have your character moving joystick on the lower left side of the screen while you’re shooting and switching weapons is on the lower right side
And what is a zombie shooter game without guns to choose from? There is a large arsenal of guns such as machine guns, shotguns, and rocket launchers etc., and they are all upgradeable too. The downfall is some of the other cool weapons require you to fork up some cash in order to purchase them. What I do like is that there is choice to customize your character whether if you play as “him” or “her” and your HQ which is a rooftop can also be customized to your liking. Like the weapons other knick knacks can be purchased with the money you collected from the game or you can choose to fork out some cash.
The three things that I’m not really too fond of the cut-scenes, it looks like it was for either the ps2 or Xbox back in 2003, then there those nice weapons you want to buy, but that requires you to spend your own money to purchase them, and lastly the “taking energy” to do missions, some may take 4 or 6 units of energy. Note to other developers “get rid of that it KILLS the game experience”.
Overall Zombie HQ is just your average zombie genre game with different missions to do, smooth and fluid controls, and with lots of content for you to unlock. This game is free at the Google play store, and if you are really into the zombie themed games, this one is worth to try out. Happy Gaming Gamers!
