GYRO Review

Welove our indie games, especially games that are free to play, and that are fun and addicting. And thankfully GYRO is free to play, is fun and addicting to play.
Submachine Factory is a 2-man indie studio from Poland that developed this game. Now I don't know these two guys were drinking (maybe Grandma's special fruit punch) but after playing 30 minutes of this game I found myself just having a blast with GYRO
When you start the game you will see a circular spinner with three colors (yellow , pink, and blue) in the middle of the screen. You can turn the spinner around by simply swiping your finger left or right.  And you have to align the corresponding sector with the incoming colors correctly now for example if you have yellow circles that are coming from the left side and top side of the screen you will have to move the yellow sector to the left and top side. And if done correctly you will start to collect points. If you happen to mismatch the colors and you health will go down.

Every good game always has some twists to keep the game invigorating, and this one throws special power up balls at you.  These extras will cause explosions, create shields or make defender satellites around your spinner.  Then there are the skull balls – you must get them otherwise random unknown effects happen… "reverse steering" could kick in or the game goes into "overclock" and everything speeds up making it difficult to catch all the balls.  It's kind of hard to be sure if any of the specials actually help the player because for the majority of the time the "defenses" appear when you're under control and instead of improving your score they'll destroy the incoming balls thus reducing your chain potential.
The graphics of the game are simple,  sections of colour which move and interact with each other.  You only ever see shades of three significant colours.  But… that's not to say the graphics aren't polished.  Even with such a pure setup, there are some subtle and beautiful additions: light trails, concentric circle explosions, glowing effects… it all swirls together delivering a complete game. And the music and sound effects are simple , pure and clean. You will hear the tone sounds blipped out as you are collecting the incoming spears.
GYRO is just a simple and fun game to play, it may look bizarre , but it is highly addictive, it is a great game that kills time if you are on the bus, train, or at an appointment. This is a game that should be on everyone's Android device. And did I mention that it is free?
