If you didn’t already know, Gamescom 2013 is happening and a whole lot of gaming news and trailers have been circulating around the web. In EA’s keynote speech, it is revealed that the latest installment of the legendary football/soccer (depending on where you’re from) game, FIFA 14, will be released as a free-to-play title on Android and iOS.
In FIFA 14, EA has stated that they are completely remaking the controls to suit touchscreen devices. The typical virtual joystick and buttons will be replaced with gesture-based commands that EA thinks will make the gameplay effortless and more fluid. It will be interesting to see if those gestures help or hurt, but if you find it absolutely frustrating to aim (which I think will be the main concern here) with the right power and accuracy, then there is the option of reverting to the virtual control scheme.
Besides that, it is expected that FIFA 14 will feature the usual updated roster of current players and teams, fantastically realistic 3D graphics and motion physics, player and team management and customization, and leagues and tournaments that you can compete in with your favorite team.
No release date has been given for the mobile version, but the PC and console versions of FIFA 14 are slated to be out on 24 September. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it shouldn’t take very long for the game to be ported to mobile devices, so keep your eyes glued to this site as we close in on that date.
